Sunday was a very pleasant day.
The concert last Friday evening
was very good.
Mr. Purcells.iys that lie won't be
lieve the ground bog theory any
more, for its nothing but a whim.
Owing to the lack of powder on
the line of It. R., a number of the
foreman in this vicinity were idle
last week.
Have yon a jack knife ? If 3 011
have keep it in your pocket and
don't let it slip out, for it will cost
you a dime to get it back again.
It appears that Mr. Mead is
afraid of burglars, by the way he
keeps guard,—a dog at each barn,
one in the house and another on
pick-it.
The cry of "wlioeback Turk" is
heard ringing through the house at
all hours of the night. We would
suggest to the proprietor that a gag
would help the poor boy to rest so
that he would'nt get up so tired in
the morning. Do you all agree

James White, formerly of lowa,
■who has been making his home with
his sister, Mrs. 8- Mend, was taken
with a choking spell on Saturday.
Dr. Hill was called and pronounced
it an attack of asthma. The old
gentleman is slowly improving.
Christian Broschart lost a very
fine ox on Sunday. Chris was at
work on the railroad and was said
to have the best team of c ittlc on
the line. He is a poor man and
the loss strikes him pretty hard.

Three blacksmith shops in town
now and the smithy iu each are
busy.
P.-ter Fry and lady of Picture
Rocks, visited friends hue last
week.
This is a fine time for coasting
and the kids can't do much else it
seems.
J. G. Plotts is hustling his job
in order to get through before the
snow leaves ÜB.
Squire Bird and lady are visiting
friends in Williamsport, this week.
It is verj seldom that the Squire
takes time to visit.
S. P. Shoemaker has just closed
a term of vocal music. The class
consisted of the lads and lasses, and
was very successful.

Brown and Mert Webster is going
to that place to run it.
The 3'oung peoples' singing school
closes to-morrow night. Setli says
it is fun to tench 'em.
Harry Brown and lady has gone
to Jamison City to visit his brother
Ernest.
Chauncy is cooking for J. (5.
Plottß'camp. He says he can dish
'em up right.

logs at his mill.
Esq. Gilbert of Eldredville, is
very sick. No hopes of his recovery
at present writing.
Mrs. J. S. Osier was out riding

J.J. Webster has his lumber all
hauled and stocked at the school
house point ready for rafting.
The syndicate of Estella are
doing a thriving business in black
smithing, wagon making, general
merchandise and lumbering. John
White is the general superintendent.

Mr. Thos. Criminous of LaPortc
and Miss Anna Deegan, of Dushore,
wore married at the latter place, on
Wednesday evening of last week.
Mr. Crimmons has charge of the
