Robinson, of Delaware county, as president of the Republican state league by an overwhelming vote was the climax of the convention in the Scranton armory. The rigid application of the rule excluding all clubs organ ized since July 10 reduced the rep resentation to 198 clubs with three delegates - each. Of this number Robinson received the votes ol 141 clubs, Dalzell 42, and Major Warren 15 cluhs. The real light of the con vention was in the committee on resolutions, which consisted of nine 1 Robinson delegates and eight Dal zell men. CUIUS MAGEE PROTESTED. Ex-Chief Justice Gordon de manded admission for forty-five clubs classed by the executive com mittee as irregular, and after wrest ling with the subject several hours the committee decided to submit it to the convention for decision. Mr. Detweiler, of Dauphin county, promptly moved to lay it en the table. Chris Magee protested against such "gag law." The resolu tion was tabled, however, and then began the nomination of candidates for presidert of the league. Hon. William C. Moreland, of Allegheny, nominated John Dalzell, of Pitts burg, in an able speech. William SchaelTer, of Delaware county, nomi nated Hon John B. Robinson.
