The Williamsport and North Branch Railroad Company have a force of men distributing poles for our new Western Union Telegraph line to connect at Muncy and Hughesville. OI Interest to Pensioners' On ,I uue 4 the next regular quarterly payment of pensions will be made, and on July 4 following each pensioner will be paid one month's pension, after which the regular quarterly payment will oc cur 011 October 4, January 4, April 4 and July 4, instead of December 4, March 4, June 4 and September 4, as heretofore. In order to facilitate this change in the date of payments j ensioners are earnestly ur#ed to execute their July vouchers at the proper time, on or after the 4th of the month named. D USllOliE ITEMS. Miss Addie Honnetter is visitiug at Sayre and Waverly. Miss Sturdevant of Laceyville is visiting relatives in town. A. R. Garey has had a relapse of pneumonia after having been out Saturday and is agaiu very low. Frank A. Bobbins' circus which visited Dushore on Wednesday of last week was an entire fraud. Many people were disappointed and some few were badly taken in on some of their swindling games. Street commissioner Frank Hard ing continues to improve the streets and sidewalks of our town and lias putin some cross walks. We are glad to see the much needed re pairs on side walks being made. Mis. Wm. Wliittich of Lee Settle ment died Friday at the age of about 50 years Mrs. Whittich has suffered for years from poor health. The remains were taken by the after noon train from this place Monday to Philadelphia where they will be cremated as was her request. where J. C. Scouten made an address of some 30 or 40 minutes duration doing credit to himself and to those for w nose memory and respect this day was set aside for the annual repetition of such exercises. Col. Madill who had been engaged to Bpeak upon the occasion failed to arrive. There was hardly as great a dem onstration at this place ou Saturday as is usual tor Memorial Day, though there was a parade in which a number of societies took part and was headed by a brass baud. The Dushore band having re-organized for the occasion and furnished very good music, beyond the expectations ol' the general public. After visit ing Col ley and Thrasher's cemetery in the morning, the column on Main street at 1 :'}o p. ni. proceeded to St. Basil's cemetery where flowers were strewn on the graves of fallen heroes and some remarks were made by Hon. L>. S. Collius and Rev. J. A- Enright. From thence they marched to Balir's cemetery and after the graves of soldiers were looked after and decorated Revs, Geo. 11. Miller and J. D. WASHINGTON, June 2. —Notice is given by the Treasury Department that the principal and accrued in terest of such of the four and one half per cent, bonds issued under the acts of July 14, 1870, and Janu ary *O, 1871. as may be outstanding <>n the 2nd of September, 1891, will be paid on that day.and that the interest on said bonds will then cease. Success to you boys. Our hotels are doing fairly well. Both sell lots of beer as well as stronger drinks and during our dry weather some persons get a little wet occasionally. Since our last communication from this place, our town has not J been sleeping all the time. Build ings are going up and other im provements are beiug made. Simmons has his new house well on the way to comple tion. It is now in the hands of the plasterers. Geo. is going to have a comfortable and well arranged house, and we hope to see him ere long sitting on his front porch, in an easy chair, reading tho the daily 1 news. Decoration Day was observed in this place on Saturday afternoon. S. S. Simmons Post G. A. R. and W. C. 344 P. O. S. of A. turned out together with a largo essemhlagc of citizens to attend the services and listen to the address of E. P. Ing ham.
