RECEPTION AND BANQUET A PLEASANT EVENT. There Were 56 Plates Lald and the Evening Was a Most One. Athens—The men's reception and banquet at the Presbyterian church last night was one of the pleasing events that leave a very agreeable memory behind them. Its social char- acter was provided for so perfectly by the committee in charge that noth- ing could possibly ba added to it, and the committee of ladies served the feast. After the banquet Rev. von Tobel in a very happy way spoke of the objects of the gathering and introduced Mr. S. R. Payne as toast master. Mr. Payne seemed at his best and as he called out each person to respond to the toasts he gave a very dignified and humorous outline of whit was required of them. Mr. Bea- man responded to the toast, ‘The so- ciety that furnished improvement for the home." He stated that the ladles improvement soclety had organized this soclety for the church, and that his wife had been trying for the past year to correct his faults but that he had one or two left yet. Several of bis friends have been wondering how this great work has been accomplish- ed. Mr. Geo. A. Lampkin then spoke “On the relation men had for the church as seen by a layman Next was a solo by Frank Cook. Rev, E A. Petrie of Sayre spoke of the rela- tion men bad for the church as seen by the pastor. This ended the pro- gram, and as they were dismissed all were 80 well pleased that they con- cluded that they had better make this an annual feature In the future. $1.75 2.50 3.00 3.75 4.50 6.50 up to up to up to up to up to i“ € “ «“ ens Again and Stépé WII Probably Be Taken to Restrain Mer.
