M. Driggs. OFFICIALS DENY RAILROAD RUMOR Report That Engineers in Passenger Service Will Be Asked to Sign the Pledge, Is Promptly Denied. This morning there was a rumor among the rallroaders to the effect that the engineers had been called to the office of the superintendent this morning for the purpose of giving that official an opportunity to inquire into the "habits of the throttle jerk- ers. According to the rumor the men were asked to appear before the super- iutedent for the purpose of signing a pledge to abstain from all intoxica- ting liquors, be they whiskey, wine, champaign, or the amber colored lig- uid with the high white collar.
