He said that Romano told him he was forced to commit the robbery by two men belonging to a society and they showed him a knife and told him that they would kill him if he did not get the money. They said the man had about forty dollars. He robbed him of thirty-one dollars and gave him $1 for doing the job. They then told him to get out of town or they would kill him and they also said that if he did not join the socicty that they would finish him, When Romano was arrested in Elmira he only had one dollar in his possession.
