The bosses at Wilkes Barre and Sayre, especially those employed in and about the shops, claim that it will have to be done, or less a great many of the competent em- ployes will quit and accept posi- tions with the Pennsylvania, Sev- eral have already resigned at Sayre and many others have intimated that they intend to do likewise, This condition has caused no little alarm, for the cold weather is now approaching, and in order to keep the motive power in continual operation it is always necessary to employ an increased force dur idg this season of year. The offi- cials claim that they cannot get the necessary number of men and that therefore it will be necessary to meet the advance offered by he the Pennsylvania. According to unofficial informa- tion the directors of the Lehigh Valley, the Lackawanna and the Jersey Central will hold a meeting shortly ard an effort will be made to rearrange a wage schedule for the mechanics. It will not sur prise those in a position to know if the announcement of an advance was m: de this month, ———— THE KING'S DAUGHTERS BAZAAR The King's Daughters circle of thc Presbyterian church have come pleted plans for the baziar and holiday sale which they are to hold sext Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24 Friday evening at 8 o'clock there will be a Tom Thumb wed ding, at which the little people will rehearse all the doings so interest. ing to their elders at one period. Rogers and Gril- ley is a safe criterion, the course will be worth all that has been claimed for it, and the hall will be filled to its utmost capacity each night. Mr. Rogers proved to be one of the finest musicians ever heard in this town, and the manner ia which he rendered several selec- tions, both classic and popular, on the harp last evening, was a treat for all music lovers. Mr. Gritley kept the large crowd in good humor from start to finish. His rendition of several comic ses lections kept everyone convulsed with laughter, and he had just enough pathos in the entertainment to keep it well balanced. After he had kept the audience laughiag un- til they were laughed out, he wou!d introduce a selection of the serious order, get everyone in a sober state of mind, and then come back with a flood of humor. His singing of songs of his own composition, to the accompaniment of the harp were especially appreciated. The “Marionette” song and “Good Evening, Mr. Moon" made special hits. I: was a most excelient en tertainment and should Messrs Rogers and Grilley ever return to Sayre they will be greeted by a large and enthusiastic audience.
