Levinton Bros. Have Rented
Lower Floor of Talmadge
Building for This Purpose
Sayre is to have a new industry
shape of a shirt factory which
will be located in the building now
occupied by H. R. Talmadge as a
a plumbing shop, The lease for
the building was drawn yester-
day and possession will be
given on the first day of next
month.
Some time ago Max Levinton, a
representative of the Elmira Shirt
Manufacturing Company came to
Sayre for the purpose of looking
cver the town. After talking with
several business men he concluded
that this would be an excellent
place in which to locate, Accord-
ingly Le entered into an agreement
by which the company secures
possession of the lower floor and
basement of the building mention-
ed above,
The company have been in buss
iness in E'mira for several years
but recently the plant at that place
has been unable to fill the orders,
and it was 4-termined to establish
a branch of the industry in some
place where operators could be
secured. Thesplant will start with
about fifty hands and this number
will be increased from time to time.
The procu:t will be of a high char-
acter, requiring the installing of
up to date machinery.

local clothing merchants, will open
tomorrow morning what will
doubtless prove to be one of the
largest clothing sales held in Sayre
This firm is overstocked and must
make room, therefore they have

that about a year ago this firm
conducted a large clothing sale, at
which time thousands of dollars

of delighted customers. Remems
ber that the big sale commences

Former Employers of Man With
Broken Back Will Defray His
Expenses to His Native Ldnd
On September 21 last Francisco
Durante, an Italian in the employ
of S. B. Mutchler & Son at Towan-
da, was struck by a traveling bucket
used in the construction of the
piers for the Lehigh's new bridge,
and sustained irjuries from which
the physicians say be will never
recover. He was crushed to the
earth by the blow from the bucket
and when he was brought to the
hospital at this place the surgeons
discovered that one of the verte
br:v in the spinal column had teen
broken. Despite this fact Durante
may live for years. He is paralyz:d
from the hips down and is therefore
Pac ical y helpless, although he is
able to move the lower part of his
bedy., He appears cheerful and
converses cheerfully with his fel~
low countrymen, to whom he res
cently expressed a desire to go to
his native country and spend his
few remaicing days. His wish was
made known to his former employ
ers, Mutchler & Son, and yesterday
arraogements were made whereby
Durante will at once be sent to
Italy. Mr. Lewis, the boookkeepsr
for the firm, came to Sayre yester-
day afternoon, and with several of
Durante’s fellow countrymen went
to the hospital, where Durante was
paid the sum of £200 in cash and
also entered into an agreement re~
leasing the firm from liability on
account of the irjuries which he
has sustained. Ia addition tothe
$200 Durante is to be provided
transportation from Sayre to his
home at Giania, Italy, and two
male nurses will be employed to
accompany him, Surgical aid will
also be furnished, as Durante is
suffering from sores on his back,
and hips which he has acquired
from lying in bed so long. The
entire expenses of sending Durante
to his home, accompanied by the
nurses, will amount to nearly
$1,000, and this will be borne en-
tirely by Mutchler & Son, This
action on the part of the firm is
most commendatory,. From a
legal standpoint it is extremely
doubtful whether Durante or his
heirs could have recovered dame
ages from the firm as the accident
is said to have resulted from care.
lessness other than that contributed
by them.
Mutchler & Son are well known
in Sayre, having executed a large
contract here for the Lehigh when
the new shops were built. They
acquired an excellent .reputation
here for square dealitg, and their
treatment of this uafortunate Ital
ian indicates that the reputation is
well merited. :
Durante and his attendants will
probably start for the sunny land
of Italy the latter part of this week.
It is said that ths $200 which he
received from Mutchler & Son will
keep him in comparative comfort
ia Italy for a period of ten years

* BUSTER BROWN
Oa next Tuesday, Nov. 13, the
Loomis opera house will cffer
“Buster Brown," a musical comedy
that has withstood the crucial test
of repeated presentation through-
out the country, No better known
little chap than R F. Outcault’s
‘Buster” has ever been given the
fun loving world. And yet all of
the bsy's popularity must not be
attributed to his own personality
for there is “Tige,” the sharer of
Buster's joys and sorrows, and as
Buster has grown we have “Mary
Jane,” a trio that have never been
surpassed in the realms of the car-
toon. They are still in the lime
light of popularity in the play,
with the delightful girl back-
ground. This season all new cos
tumes and scenery have been pro-
vid-d together with the latest and
most popular songs and new
music. In fact itis a second edi~
tion of “Buster Brown" revised,
enlarged and brought up to the
hour. Master Rosen will be seen
in the character of “Buster.”
BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING
There will be a meeting of the
Sayre borough council in the
Packer hose rooms this evening,
It is expected that the sewer ques-
tion will come up for discussion.
Recently the Lehigh Valley has
granted several concessions rela-
tive to the sewer going under the
company tracks and this matter
will also be placed before the coun-
MUST BE STOPPED
Recently a fireman employed by
the Lehigh was disciplined for
throwing from a car a piece of coal
which struck a track hand severely
injuring him. The matter was re-
ported to the superintendent, and
he has issued orders that the prac
tice of throwing coal from the
cars must be discontinued.
