Lilley Is on the Run Along With
the Rest of the Gang
Election is one week from today
and between now and then every
voter who is interested in clearing
up the political atmosphere and
turning the grafters out should
work assiduously to that end.
There is no longer any doubt of
the election of the entire reform
ticket. The state ticket is conceded
a majority of at least 150,000, and
$0 far as the local fizhts are cons
cerned all of the machine candi.
dates are shaking at the kaeces
The fight in the fourteenth cons
gressional district is no longer a
contest, but a rout. Lilley is on
the rua. His most ardent admirers
are looking sericus and are trying
to comfort themselves with the
belief that it won't be a landslid=
This cheerful aspect, however,
should not mis!cad the voliag ele-
ment aud prevent their going to
the polls. Notwithstanding the
fight is already won it is the duty
of every voter who is desirous cf
seeing a cleaning vp in Pennsylva
nia to go to the polls and register
his intentions. Every voter should
appoict himself a committee of one
to sec that every vote in his neigh
borhood is polled. Reform cannot
be accomplished unless those in
favor of it go to the polls and cas
their ballots, Remaining at home
and depending on the other fellow
to do the job won't work. G=t out
and the victery is comp'ete and
decisive. Vote for Kipp in this
congressional district and thus
place yourself on record as being
opposed to bossism and crooked
poiitical methods.

They will be conducted jointly by

humorous and altogether delight.
ful entertainers that are appearing
before the American public today,
Tickets for the whole course will

remarkably cheap and it is only
with the hearty cooperation of the
people of Sayre that the course can
be successfully conducted. The
first number will take place No.
vember 16, and there will be one
number each month thereafter un-
til itis completed. If the people
will only be brought to an under-
standing in regard to the high
character of this course very few
will care to miss any of them.

PURCHASING MACHINERY
E D. Ademy, the well known
contractor, returned this morning
from Cleveland, O.,, where he had
been to purchase machinery for his
gravel pit. He has secured what
is known as a stiff arm derrick and
used in loading gravel for the new
buildings to be erected by the
American LaFrance cagine works
at Elmira. Mr, Ademy has the
contract for furnishing 850 carloads
of gravel for these buildings which
are to be of concrete. F, H. John-
son of this place has the contract
for erecting the buildings and has
been engaged at the work for some
time,

Painter Employed ia Postoffice
Buildiog Sustained a Badly
Crushed Ankle
T. U. Farnsworth, a painter and
decorator who resides on South
River street, suffered a severe
injury on Saturday evening which
will lay him up for several weeks,
Mr. Farnsworth has recently been
employed in painting the interior
of the new postoffice building on
Desmond street. Saturday night
just before quitting time he was
standing on a ladder painting the
sidewall near the ceiling. He
reached over too far, and losing his
balance fell to the floor, striking
on his right foct. The benes in
the ankle were crushed and Dr.
Cummings, who reduced the frees
ture says that it will bs at least
seven weeks before Mr. Farnsworth
will bz able to return to work.
A SORRY SPECTACLE
In Bradford county there is a
normal Republican majority of
nearly five thousand, yet the peos
ple are now witnessing the spectas
cle of a Republican candidate for
Congress going up and down the
county begging for votes. Ordine
arily a Republican candidate for
this important office, whose politis
cal carcer had not been besmirchsd
with trickery aad corrupt practices
could sit in the quiet of his home
itd look the situation in the face
with complicency. A candidate
who had the confidence of the vot.
ers would have no cccision to fear
for the future. It would not be
necessary for him to even raise his
finger. His election would be as.
sured. How different is the situa
tion today. With the nomination
for congress secured by trickery
Mial Lilley, the present incumbent
of the office, is imploring the rank
and ‘file to rally to his support
Every artifice that is known to this
“astute” politician has been resort-
ed to in order to secure votes,
Meetings, with brass band and red
fire display have been held in var-
ious precincts, and the swish of the
party lash sounds in the air, Lil
ley is in desperate straits. The
party which he has dragged into
ignomy and disgrace is in open re-
volt and is on the eve of repudiat-
ing him and his methods at the
polls on Tuesday next. Lilley has
no oneto blame but himself, He
has worked out his own downfall,
The kind of “leadership” that he
has employed to advance his own
private ends will no longer te tol-
erated by the members of the party
to which he claims to belong. His
despairing cry of “elect me and you
will stand by Roosevelt” is the cry
of a drowniog man graspioy at
straws, Lilley is fully alive to the
situation. He has played the
game in this county for along time
and it is the last peg on which Lil
ley can stand, and no one knows it
better than himself, The voters,
however, are not blind, They
know that “standiag by Roosevelt’
means in this instance standing by
Lilley, and they will refuse to be
fooled. They will vote the other
way this year. They will vote for
reform and vote to clean out the
gang, to which Lilley has sworn
undying allegiance,
“NY WIFE FANILY”
The Whitney production of “My
Wife's Family” will appear at the
Loomis tomorrow evening. The
play has been a big success since
first produced. In the hands of
the present company the play has
been a pronounced success, With
a capable cast of singers, dancers
and comedians the show is one
round of jollity from the rise to the
fall of the curtain. Everything
goes with a vim, The songs are
all new and the dances artistically
arranged, The vocalists are artists
and the comedians are funny ; the
costdmes are handsome and the
ry elaborate. There is not.a

Expected That Cars Will Be
Running Between Waverly
and Elmira by the Holidays
The Erie Railroad company ex-
pects to have its trolley line coms
pleted in time to run cars for the
holidays. The work has progress-
ed rapidly and over certain sections
of the route rails have been laid.
There are also several sections
to grade, but a large force of men
the grading over the major portion
the last of next month. The pro~
moters of the road, however, are
experiencing scme difficulty in
getting the consent of property
owners to allow the line to go over
their lands this side of Elmira.
There are about three miles of the
route that has not been touched
near the city sind the property
owners are sticking out for a highs
er price than the company are will-
tog to pay. Itis said that unless
the owners come to time the coms
pany will begin condemaation pros

REDUCTION IN FARE
The new schedule of rates in the
passenger department of the Le
high Valley, which will go into ef

duction in the fares from Sayre to
all points. Heretofore it has cost
51 cents to go from this place to
Towanda, but afier the new sthed-
ule is in force, the fair will be only
45 cents. At the present time a
ticket for Towanda and return can
be purchased for 85 cents. Thes:
tickets are only good for the upper
