MILK THERES TL 1 WORK Concerted Efforts Will Be Made to Apprehend the Guilty Parties. Unidentified thieves still persist in stealing milk bottles along El- mer avenue, and as a matter of protecting their patrons the milk men have determined to make a effort to bring the guilty parties to justice. In many cases money which has been left in bottles has been stolen, while in others the bottles filled with milk have disap~ peared, A special effort will be made to apprehend the thieves, in which event they will be prosecut- ed to the full extent of the law, PURCHASED A BREWERY Charles FT, Lehnert, formerly brewmaster for the Sayre Brewing company, and one of the heavy stockholders in that enterprise, left this morning for Catasauqua, this state, where he has purchased a brewery and a hotel. Mr, Lehe nert becomes the sole owner of both concerns and will take pos- session on the first of the month, He has sold his stock in the Sayre company and will shortly remove his family to that place. He is a master brewer, and during his res- idence in Sayre, covering a period of two years, has acquired many friends, all of whom will regret his departure, but will wish him suc~ cess in his new venture, HOSPITAL DAY The graduating exercises of the hospital training class for nurses will be held in the Presbyterian church on the evening of October 23rd. ENA BUNTING COMPANY The Loomis opera house was taxed to its capacity last night when the Emma Bunting company opened their week's engagement. Miss Bunting is the same clever little lady as ever and was greeted with vociferous applause upon her eatrance, Her supporting come pany this season is the best she has ever had and the generous applause bestowed upon them was well mer- ited. Tonight the big sensational scenic production of “Rachel Golds stein" will be the offering. This is one of the best pieces in the com- pany's repertoire, a complete scenic and electric equipment being car- ried for the same. The first act is a reproduction of the steamer Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse. Dur- ing this act one of the most realis- tic storms at sea ever attempted will be seen. “Two Little Sailor Boys" will be the matinee bill for tomorrow. The company is offers ing a purse of $25 to any couple who will be married upon the stage on Thursday evening. This has gotten to be a decided fad in the larger cities and it is hoped that Waverly will not be behind in this respect. Madam Flower, the great bronze Melba, who made such a distinct hit last night, will positive- ly appear at every performance during the week, BROKE OPEN CARS Weary Willies and professional hoboes are causing no end of trouble for the detectives in the employ of the Lehigh Valley. Cold weather usually drives this particular breed of mankind into winter haunts, but the fine weather of the past few days has brought the willies out in great numbers. Last night several box cars at Carney were broken open and nfled. A switch at the same place was broken, and other depredations have also been committed. This is a year In which the people are doing a lot of sober thinking, The more they examine into ring rule snd wateh the capers of Boss Lilley the madder they get. The climax has been reached and the honest voters, who are in a ma- jority, are ready to repudiate Lilley and his ticket and elect one representing the people. The time iv near at band when it will be demonstrated whether HIT HOSPITALS Gigantic Graft Game Cost the Packer Hospital at Sayre $2000 Governor Pennypicker sees things differently at times. After thas last regular session of the legislature he vetoed a number of appropriations made to charitable institutions, and others he cut considerably. Here is the memoran- dam he filed with each veto, hold my approval from these bills for the reason that the state revenue does not justify the appropriations at this time.” The appropriation for the Packer hospital at Sayre was cat to the extent of $2,000 by the governor's veto, bat at the same time $9,000,000 of the people's money was being squandered on the state capito] at Harrisburg. Outrageons sums were being paid for cuspldores and other equipment, while suffering bumanity was meekly knocking at the door of the legislatare and begging a crumb. The state capitol steal will go graft game that has ever been perpetra- ted on the American public. A rotten Republican wachine, headed by a gang who serve the state for spoils only, is responsible for this monumental swindle. Mial E Lilley is part and parcel of this machine. At any rate he is receiy- ing its unqualified support, and the peo- ple of this congressional district are be- ing asked to send him back to Washing- ton, simply because he is a member of the gang. In order to pull the wool over the eyes of the voters, however, Mial and his henchmen are shouting “Roose- velt mast be supported!” Roosevelt does not need or want the support of the disreputable gang whose pathway is strewn with pablic plander and palpable dishonesty. The defeat of Mial E. Lil- ley in this district will be a staggering blow to the corruptionist; his defeat will be to the everlasting credit of this congressional district.
