. Turner's Inflammacine,
‘the new remedy that has
| been introduced in this val-
ley within the last few
‘months by E. LeRoy Burg
Dorf, seems to have gained
'a strong hold on the popular
(favor as evidenced by the
testimonials thas follow. The
remedy has been used by
some of the employes of The
Record, and gave good re-
sults. Inflammacioe is a
certain cure for piles, and

Marshal Lines Up Tramps and Makes
Them Run Race, Threatening
to Flog Loser.
Raleigh, N. C—The town of Wik
son, this state, has. introduced a new
form of “sport"—tramp racing. When
a hobo “hits the town” he is arrested
and Incarcerated In the lockup.
When several bave been accumulated
the whole lot is marched out Into the
public square. Across this a line is
drawn and the tramps are told to line
up. Hardly has the ragged line been
formed whea the town marshal con
fronts them, rawhide whip in hand,
and iwforms them that one mile down
the road is a ditch that marks the
corporate limits of the town. At a
given signal they are to start for the
ditch, and it is to be distinctly under
stood that the hobo whose tattered
coat tall last flutters across the ditch
is to be treated to such a fogging aa
he will have cause to remember all
the days of his life

Popular Hostelry Will Be Great-
ly Baolarged and Improved
Waverly—If present plans are
carried out, and itis very likely
that they will be, the Norwood
hotel will be owned in the future
by a stock company. Itis the in-
tention of those who are interested
to greatly enlarge the hotel and
improve it in many ways. Another
story will be added. This will in-
crease the rooms by about 21, and
there will be 18 rooms with private
baths. This will give a total of 54
transient rooms, besides accommo-
dations for those working at the
hotel, The wash rooms will all be
tiled, and a private lighting plant
will be installed, and the building
refurnished throughout. When
the work is completed the Norwood
will be one of the most up to date
hostelries in this section.
Theodore Shay, the present pro-
prietor, will eontinue to manage
the hotel, and will own a large part
of the stock.
The plans for remodeling the
hotel are completed and will soon
be submitted to the contractors for

Mr. E. B. Turner,
Bergen, N. Y.
Dear Sir:—I am 78 years old and
I have bad the hay fever for the last
35 or 40 years, every year. I have
tried many doctors and remedies
aid found only temporary relief.
Your agent left a box of Turaer's
Inflammacins on trial at my house
and the first application bad the
most srothing effect. From the sec-
ond or third application it retarded
the sneezing and discharge from
my nose and eyes completely. After
one week's treatment it did me more
good than any remedy I ever tried
now realize that I am perfectly free
from hay fever. If I could not get
another box of it, I would not take
ten times the cost of the box for it.
I would cheerfully recommend 1t to
a'l sufferers with hay fever.

I commenc-d using Inflammacine

Mr. E. B. Turner.
About 28 years ago, after giving
birth to my oldest girl, I had a Milk
months. Then after 11 years ulcers
broke out on both limbs and I have
suffered from them ever since with-
out finding any remedy to heal them.
Your agent left a box of Turner's
Inflammacine at my house om trial.
I used it, found immediate relief,
and bought up what of the remedy I
could get of my neighbors. I have
now used three bows which have
completely healed the ulcers and
sores which I have been unable to
heal for 10 years. I can cheerfully
recommend your remedy to all wom-
en who are suffering from milk leg,
and will be glad to answer any cor-

ing ability, the short hobo eyeing the
jong legs of his neighbor with envy.
Line up an’ toe the mark square,”
shouts the marshal
“Git set!”
“Go!”
The line surges, thea breaks amd
off go the huooes. The marshall and
his assistants leap upon their wal
ing horses and are off after the flying
tramps, catching up with them and
spurring the ambition of the laggards
with sharp warning flicks from thelr
whips
Straight down the road “goes the
fiying company, their heels patteriag
upon the ground with spurts of dust
From tattered bulks they quickly
dwindle into ragged specks and are
soon lost to view im a cloud of dust
while the assembled spectators shout
with glee.
As a matter of fact, no man has yet
been flogged, but belle! in the flog
ging of the last man across the ditch
is firm and no tramp that has once
run the race has ever been knowa
to return to the town of Wilson.
FACE DEATH IN MIDAIR.
Two Aeronauts Land After Flight of
12 Miles in Blazing
Bhip.
Pottsville, Pa.—A blazing sirship,
which threatened to roast its tw
occupants, 400 feet above the earth,
amazed the residents in this section
The aerial craft was manned by
George Phillips and a companion, and
it caught fire from a spark from the
gasoline motor.
Phillips constructed the ship on his
own plans on a farm near Orwigs
burg. While making experiments he
would sallow the ship to rise about
ten feet In the air. While he was
taking one of these ascents the ship
got beyond control, and, rising swift-
ly, struck a course in this direction.
As observed from St. Clair the ship
seemed to be making fast progress
golug northward directly fo the teeth
of the wind. For a minute there was
a bright flame visible. The ship de-
scended swiftly and reached the
ground badly damaged, after a flight
of 12 miles
Phillips sald the fire was only a
“flash in the pan,” but he admits that
he and his companion were consid.
ering the project of jumping to the
earth io the parachute to save them
selves from being roasted to death.
Mouse's House of Toothpicks.
Manchester, N. H.—An Ingenious
arrangement for housekeeping made
by a mouse was revealed by house-
cleaning operations on the part of an
Exeter resident recently. A cartom
of wood toothpicks had been ‘placed
in thekear of a drawer in the pantry,
Petween the end of the drawer and
the partition was space enough to lay
a toothpick lengthwise. The mouse
made its way into the drawer and
removed every toothpick from the
carton and carefuily bullt them up
into a square iu the space at the
rear. They were carefully placed one
above another, the cross layers hold.
ing the whole fabric firmly. Thea
the mouse made a warm pest in the
bottom.

EACELLENT LECTURE
Waverly—The lecture given last
night at the Presbyterian church
by the Rev. Delos E. Finks was
very much enjoyed by a'l who wes:
present, and the church was well
filled. He gave a short discourse
on the Mormons, showing their
high rate of increase, and that they
were a menace to the free institu-
tion on which this government is
founded. He said that Mormon-
ism stood for conspiracy, treachery,
tyranny and treason. The views
of the five houses that afe now
maintained at the present time by
the president of the church, Joseph
Smith, for each of his five wives,
and the pictures of the many cost
ly temples in Utah proved inter-
esting. He showed many other
pictures of the scenery, the people
and their modes of life in various
parts of the country, He will give
another lecture this evening, and
it will be well worth the time of
any one to attend.
WOULDN'T PAY FARE
Waverly—A man named Houck
boarded an Erie train at Bingham-
ton yesterday and paid his fare to
Owego, but failed to get off the
train when that place was reached.
After leaving that station he re-
fused to pay any further, and raised
a rumpus when the conductor be~
sought him to settle. He hada
large sized jag on at the time ond
itis suspected that that was the
cause of his belligerent attitude.
When the train reached Waverly
he was taken from the train and
locked up. He was still too drunk
this morning to be given a hearing,
and is still in the calaboose.
GIVEN SIX WONTES
Waverly—Burr Dove got a
large sized jag on yesterday and
was on the streets all day, running
whenever he saw a man wearing a
police uniform, During the day
he got ramptious and kicked a
window out of the barn that is
used by C. M. Young. Last night
he ran against Officers Gridley and
Corcoraa, and they escorted him to
the lockup. This morning he was
given six months in the county
jail at Owego, and it is hoped that
after that period of reflection that
he will decide to mend his ways.
