Valley Railroad, which goes into effect on Monday next, July 16th, em-
bracing the following classification of employes: Conductors, Engineers,

Waverly—Word has been res
ceived by Mrs. James Nolan that
her brother, James Reynolds, had
died at Schnectady. He was a
blacksmith and was well known in
Waverly, where he formerly lived,
and at Sayre where he has worked
in the Lehigh shops. No definite
information as to the cause of his
death has been received.
W. B Stamford and Job Tozer
went to Ithaca today on business
Miss Minnie Gorman of the N.
P. L,is enjoying a week's vaca-
tion.
Mrs. Howard Waldron of Els
mira spent Sunday with her par-
ents and friends in Waverly.
Miss Alice Warren of Lester

About a dozen members of the
Baraca class of the Baptist church
went into camp this morning.
Mrs E C French returned from
Atlantic City Saturday evening.
Mr. French went to New York.
Lew Lord took his houseboat up
to Vestal this moming and will
float down the river from that

for a three weeks’ trip to Newark,
N J, New York city, Buffalo and

Waverly--The Democratic coun
ty convention was held Saturday
afternoon at Owego. The follow
ing delegates were elected to repre-
sent the county at the state con
vention: J, L. Taylor and M. J.
Murray of Owego and J. P. Falsey
of Waverly. The delegates were
instructed to support Hearst.

It the proposed street goes
through it will greatly increase the

the street, and values are already

IN POLICE CIRCLES
Waverl y—Four individuals were
so unfortunate as to fal! into the
hands of the police Saturday night.
Three of them were plain drunks
and were allowed to go Sunday’
morning. Oae, named Johnson,
who lives ut East Waverly, started
a fight but was taken into custody
before he got very far and was
fined $5, which he paid

PAINFULLY INJURED
Waverly—Amos White, of 203
Howard street, a turner at the fur-
niture works, was painfully injured
last week. The stick flew out of
the lathe, and his arm came in con-
tact with the dog which penetrated
his arm. The belt slipped off and
saved him from what might have
been a serious accident.
ULSTER WON BALL GAME
Waverly—In an 11 inning game
last Saturday the Ulster baseball
team defeated the Waverly ag-
gregation by a score of 11 to 10.
The game was interesting and the
result in doubt until the end. A |
game will be played with the
Athens team next Saturday.
