The outfit is a large one, and the prospects for a fine entertainment are excellent. One of the interesting as well as amusing attractions at the _street chimpanzee and white rat located in front of the tent occupied by the serpentine girl. The rat and “big monk” do several stunts that are worth going miles to see. On the Fourth of July the young son of Mike Murray, an Italian who resides on the east side, stepped on a piece of glass, cutting a deep gash This morning it was discovered that blood poisoning, had developed, and the youngster was taken to the hospital for treatment. This morning two small boys delivered to Chief Walsh a ladies’ wheel, model 157, which had been found on the east side. The name of the wheel is “The Gold Stand- ard,” and the owner can have the same by calling on the chief and proving property. — There was some discussion this morning as to when the Lehigh Valley would pay the men em ployed in this section. For several months it has been customary to pay them on the 14th, which will fall on Saturday next this month, but a rumor gained currency this morning to the effect that the company would not pay until the 15th, Inquiry was made at the local offices of the Lehigh but no Lc IF FAIR Strong Effort Made to Have the Exhibition Given on Elmer Avenue For a ime this morning there fair should be located. This is the third year that a Carnival Co. has exhibited in Sayre. The first ex lot on lower Desmond street. The second exhibition was also given on this lot, and attracted large crowds. Business interests on that street were there fore greatly benefitted, and when it was announced that the American Amusement Company, under the auspices of the local fire depart- meot, was to exhibit on the same was made by certain buiness in terests in the other end of the town | to locate the show on one of the main streets of the town. Accord ingly a license was secured from | Burgess Cross to parmit the show | to be given on Elmer avenue be- avenue. When the burgess granted the license he understood that the | property owners, in front of whose | idences the exhibition was to be given, had granted their consent, but this morning it developed that some of them were opposed to| the plan. The property owners who objected insisted that the show would be of great inconven- ience to therm and that they would suffer damages to a considerable When their attention was called to the license granted by the burgess they declared that they would begin injunction proceed ings. Lawyers were consulted, but before the matter extent department concluded to abandon the Elmer avenue project and the | outfit was set up on the Desmond street grounds discussion. It is claimed by those who were desirous of having the show on Elmer avenue that in the principal streets. Of course the street is closed so far as traffic 1s concerned, but it is claimed the benefit derived is sufficient to more than cover the damages and incon venience.
