Request to Assign Gas Franchise
Tumed Down by the Council
The acetylene gas franchise
came up before the council last
night in the shape of a request on
the part of one of the stockholders
in the company asking permussion
to assign the franchise to other par
ties. When the franchise was
granted the council insisted that a
certified check for $300 be put up
by the promoter and also that he
pay for advertising the ordinance.
The promoter has failed to put up
the check and also to pay for the
publication of the ordinances. The
time limit on the check expires on
July 5, and if the check is not
forthcoming the franchise will be
void. The request to assign to
other parties was referred to the
borough council, which means that
it is quite likely to be turned down
