The sleeping firemen were aroused, and, wishing to vindicate the installation of the new system, they assembled at their various hose houses, hur- ried out with the carts and congre~ gated at the corner of Chemung and Garfield streets, where No. 45 is located. They did not find any fire and it then dawned on their minds that someone had been play- ing horse with them The sentiments expressed were ol a varied nature; some made merry while the language of others > Some persons were absent, how ever, and so those who were there turned in the second alarm, and brought out many others who in turn enhanced the decoloration of the atmosphere. It is a very serious affair, hows to find the offender and if located he will be dealt with in a severe manner.
