No. 233 Des- mond street. 282 1w Miss Evelyn Hoag, who has been trimming in Newport, Vt, for the past two years, has taken a position with Miss Driscoll and will be pleased to see her friends, 278.5 | DED YESTERDAY She Was the Wife of the Well Known Engineer and Had Been a Resident of Sayre for Many Years Mrs. Mary Laux, wife of Jacob Laux, the well known Lehigh Val. ley engineer, died at her home on North Elmer avenue, last night, at 6:30 o'clock, after an illness of two years’ duration of Brights disease. For the past eight months’ her con dition had been serious, but it was not considered critical until a few hours previous to her deatfr. The deceased was born in Pitts ton September 27, 1857, and her maiden name was Mary Hess. She was married to Jacob Laux Api 25, 18 and with her husbard came to Sayre 27 years ago. For twenty years they resided on North Lehigh avenue, but for the past seven years have lived on North Elmer avenue. She was a woman of most estimable character, a de. vout christian and kind wife and mother. During her long residence in Sayre she had acquired a host of friends who will regret her death Besides her mother, Mrs. Minnie Laux, she is survived oy the fol. lowing relatives : Four daughters, Mrs. John McMahon, Mrs T. J O'Niel, Mrs. M J] Farrell, Miss Emma Laux, all of Sayre; one son, Leo, also of Sayre, and four sisters, Mrs. Joseph Hieck of Aubura, Mrs. George Fleischer and Mrs, John Morgan of Pittston, and Mrs. Au. gustus Menzel cf Alton, Pa, The funeral will be held from the Church of the Epiphany on Tuesday morning at g o'clock. REMOVED QUARANTINE Health Officer Brougham yes. terday removed the quarantine from the home of E B. Henry on Lincoln street. Mr. Henry's home has been under quarantine since March 2nd, on which day one of his little children died of scarlet fever.
