She alleges that a plank gave way with her weight upon it caus-| ing her to fall and receive injuries | to her spine which brought on paralysis to her limbs which pre-| vented her from doing her work. | Also that she is not well at present | and does not think she ever will be on account of such injuries, She alleges that her fall was caused | by no carelessness of her own, but | by the negligence of the officials of the village of Waverly in that the plank had been in an unsound condition for some time and should have been replaced. Her husband also presents claims for $5,000 for the loss of the services of his wife. VILLAGE TRUSTEES MET LAST NIGHT Waverly—At the first regular meeting of the board of trustees of the village last evening consider— able business was transacted. The president and clerk were instructed to make the necessary arrangements with the Citizens’ bank to obtain funds for the curs rent bills until taxes are collected. The bill of H. A. Ross for $25 for taking the rccent census was ordered paid. The bond of Street Commissioner Jefferson for £1,000, and Treasurer Whitley for $235,000 were accepted. A motion by Far- ley, was adopted providing that such streets or portion of streets as i shall be hereafter designated shall 'be sprinkled during the coming | summer and the expense assesscd | pro rata against property owners benefitted. It was estimated the cost of the above would amount to one dollar on £1,000 valuation Trustee Farley was authorized to purchase two sprinkling carts and to make contracts for neccessary teams and water, Two resolutions offered by Mr Lang were adopted, one instructing the chief of the fire department to request the Bell telephone company to make a connection with the central of the Valley telephone company in order that those who have Valley ‘phones can send in an alarm of fire.
