He is survived by his wife, one son and four daughters, one of whom resides at home. The funeral took place from the residence this afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev, H. W. Cryden. wise conducted the service, and burial took place at Tioga Point cemetery, Athens METALLIC RAILWAY TEE Waverly—A patent has been granted to Judson S Griswold of Waverly on a metallic railroad tie. The tic consists of a hollow steel trough with a notch for the rail to lie in, and is fitted with a clamp to hold the rail in place. It is claimed that the tie is fifty per cent cheaper than the wooden tie now in use. JUST AN INCIDENT Waverly — Two Broad street merchants became involved in a dispute concerning a business agreement. It ended in a fistic encounter in which one of them received a black eye. The closing of the eye seems to have ended the incident, as no one has been haled into court to answer for the act. FURIOUS ITALIAN Waverly— John Damananda, who hails from Italy, became intox- icated yesterday. Infuriated by taunts of several youngsters he showed fight and caused the atten- tion of an officer who took him into custody, being released on suspended sentence in the evening OPENS OFFICE Dr. O. FELL DOWN STARS W. H. Ballenstedt, the baker, fell down the cellar stairs in the rear of his store last Sunday evening. There is a rumor in railroad cir- cles that action is to be taken by the internal revenue department against the Lehigh Valley and the Lackawanna and other railroads that sell liquor on buffet cars. It is said that the companies men- tioned have been warned by the department but that the warning has not been heeded.
