Alpha and Omega, whose leaping fifty
feet through high and empty space ou
ordinary bicycles is the latest startling
sensation, are announced to make their
appearance here with the Frank A. Rob-
bins Co. All New Great Feature Shows
on Taesday, Sept. 12.
None of our readers having seen this
achievement, the following summary
taken from a description in the New
York Evening Journal, will be found of
interest:
The bicycles used are of the ordinary
Alpha and Omega start
from a platform 45 feet from the ground,
Before them lies, at an incline of 45 de-
grees, a board path, less than d feet wide
and a hundred feet in length, which at
the bottom ends in a sharp upward
curve, directly in line with and separat-
ed by a break of some 50 feet from anoth-
er platform 10 feet above the ground.
A geutle shove from an attendant and
they are off on a brief but fearsome jour-
ney, So speedily do they gather speed
in their fleet descent that they flash like
a wisty streak across the sight, and in
the twinkling of an eye have reached
the summit of the curve referred to, and
they and their wheels soar upward and
headlong bigh in air. The momentum

Splinter Coused Child's Death,
SUNOL, Sept. 11L- A splinter in his
big toe caused the death of Claud
Chawberialn, the two-yearold son of
W. W. Chamberlain. The child was
playing in his bare feet a few days
ago, when, on stubbing his toe, he ran
a sliver under the nail. Dr, J. Wells
was called and the plece of redwood
removed. The Incident was thought
po more of by the child's mother until
the following day, when the boy com-
plained of pains in his limbs. Again
the physician was sent for, but blood
poisoning had set in, and he was un-
able to save the child's life
