OH, WHAT A DOUBLE JUMP ! Alpha and Omega, whose leaping fifty feet through high and empty space ou ordinary bicycles is the latest startling sensation, are announced to make their appearance here with the Frank A. Rob- bins Co. All New Great Feature Shows on Taesday, Sept. 12. None of our readers having seen this achievement, the following summary taken from a description in the New York Evening Journal, will be found of interest: The bicycles used are of the ordinary Alpha and Omega start from a platform 45 feet from the ground, Before them lies, at an incline of 45 de- grees, a board path, less than d feet wide and a hundred feet in length, which at the bottom ends in a sharp upward curve, directly in line with and separat- ed by a break of some 50 feet from anoth- er platform 10 feet above the ground. A geutle shove from an attendant and they are off on a brief but fearsome jour- ney, So speedily do they gather speed in their fleet descent that they flash like a wisty streak across the sight, and in the twinkling of an eye have reached the summit of the curve referred to, and they and their wheels soar upward and headlong bigh in air. The momentum decreases until they seem to haverin Walker Crain Ray BO Fredenburg, Fay Morrison lena Konkl Lucy Francis Samuel French, O=car Langeland, Harold Ackley, Howard Emma Fox, Delaney, safety pattern. space, then the bicycles dive downward and land on the receiving platform, which their two wheels must strike at practically the same moment, as other- wise there would bea dreadful finish, then and there, Splinter Coused Child's Death, SUNOL, Sept. 11L- A splinter in his big toe caused the death of Claud Chawberialn, the two-yearold son of W. W. Chamberlain. The child was playing in his bare feet a few days ago, when, on stubbing his toe, he ran a sliver under the nail. Dr, J. Wells was called and the plece of redwood removed. The Incident was thought po more of by the child's mother until the following day, when the boy com- plained of pains in his limbs. Again the physician was sent for, but blood poisoning had set in, and he was un- able to save the child's life Four Persons Drowned.
