East Towauda was not so lhrgely attended either by the bovs 111 blue or spectators. Commander AMMHUMAN and his efficient adjutant. C. T. HINTON, deserve great credit for the thoroughness with which they planned the arrangements and the pre cision with which they were executed. The weather was disagreeable and cold rain fell almost continuously, but tbe several hundred veterans who had assembled did not permit these untoward cieeumstauces to interfere TOWANDA, PA., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 1881. with the objects of their gathering—keeping alive the memories of the war. and re-kind ling the tires of patriotism in their own hearts. Despite the rain the sliaiu battle yesterday afternoon was witnessed nv a large crowd composed or ladle* and gentlemen. The con tending forces were placed in battle array at '2:30 p. in. The Union army was under com mand of Gen. AM.MKRMAN. assisted by Gen. AINTON. while Gen. YVILMOT, aided by Gen. YYOODIN, led tlie ''rebels." The consutn mam skill and good generalship displayed in the combat afforded the best evidence that the science of war has not been forgotten. In addit tion to the oath now prescribed hy law to bo taken and subscribed by election officers, they shall sever ally be sworn or affirmed not to disclose how any elector shall laVe voted unless required to do so hi a judicial proceeding.
