The Land League committee have received furtlier advices from Rev. G. W. PEPPER.— He promises to toe here next Wednesday evening without fail, and those who have purchased tickets should retain I hem until that time. All the weekly papers in town have entered into a compact to increase their subscription rates to $1 50 per annum. A violation of the contract is punishable by penalties. The ar rangement does not go into effect until the first of January next. Plav-goers will he delighted that an oppor tunity is lobe afforded them of witnessing a first-class theatrical performance. Her opening commenced yesterday and will continue to-day and to-morrow. — Mrs. MINGOS combines excellent judgment in tin selection of goods with artistic taste in arranging and diaplayfng them. A visit to her store afford* a genuine msthetlc feast to lovers of the beautiful and we don't wonder that so many ladies find themselves attracted thither. It's an evidence of refinement in taste and prudence in purchasing to see them there, which is flattering to fond husbands, and will he encouraged by all who care for neatness in attire and economy in purchases, 011 the part of their wives. FIREMEN'S PARADE. —The annual parade of the Towanda Fire Department came off" yesterday. The weather was all that could have been desired and the town wore a gala dny appearance. Firemen's hall was neatly decorated and over the door was placed in large letters, trimmed with evergreen, the hospitable legend, "Welcome." Flags were displayed and the brave firemen given other evidences of tlio kind feelings entertained for them hv our citizens. On No. 7, at 11 o'clock, came the Waverly Hook and Ladder Co., ac companied by LnFrance's Band of Klinira.— The-. ,WCIP ME' at ilie station by a large dele gation of Franklin Engine Co., whose guests they were to he and their truck drawn to the engine house, preceeded by the Germania Band. Over the main entrance to the Ward HonsA, where the visitiag firemen were quar tered, an arch was sprung hearing the in scription, " Welcome Waverly 11. k L. 2.*' At 2 o'clock the procession moved in the following order: Councihnen in carriages; Fire Police; LaFranceßand;Waverly II.&L. Co. and their truck drawn hv a team of hor ses; Germania Band; Franklin No 1, with hose carriage, followed hv teamer drawn by four horses; Germania Band; Naiad No. 2, with hose cart and engine drawn by pair of horses; Liberty Corners Band; Mantua 4, with truck drawn by team. The '• machines were all handsomely trim med. and seated on Naid engine was Master JOHNEIE PIERCE, in the uniform of a tire man, and seated in a chair under a canopy made of flags, 011 Mantua's truck was a beau tiful little girl. The line of march was the same as announced in the REVIEW. After the parade the Department was reviewed by the Town Council and addressed by Council man IIOLCOMB. The most interesting feature of the celebra tion was the hoe race between sqads of the Franklins and Naiads.
