We know that very few towns and villiagcs in old Bradford can boast of a genuine park, such as is situated upon the hanks of the Wyalusing Creek, near Stevensville, Pennsyl vania. and it is unnecessary to say that it is "the pride of the villiage." The park is an island which to have ensconscd itself between hill-sides, and by the prettiest of streams—and beside its natural beauties of forest grove and shady lanes, can boast of a line track for driving, and contains vales, very pretty rustic summer houses, seats and an elevated covered platform for music and fourth of July speeches. Just now the Stevensville brass band have been holding a convention, under the direction of Prof. Cogswell, of Scranton, and by night the grounds are lighted by torch tires, and the sweet music ba> made our park an attractive spot. The members of the convention "camped out" after the regulation method, during the live days session, and were en tertained also in the pleasant rustic dining room by the owner of the grounds, 31 r. S, B. Stevens and his wife in the most bountiful and hospitable manner. Mr.Stovens has giv en the use of this delightful spot freely to the public, and has gave much from his own purse to aid in making it all that it now is. On Friday evening last the convention wound up with a grand concert in the Pres byterian Church in Stevensville, and have been complimented far and near for the great success of the entertainment, and as having made wonderful progress for a musical socie ty not two years old. Mr. CogswelT, of course, charmed the audience wife his artis tic playing upon both violin and cornet and a> it is universally known that Mr Cogswell ranks second on'y to Levy in this country, it would he strange if our inhabitants should not appreciate the privilege of having suelr'a master in their midst. Mrs. Cogswell ac companied her husband very gracefully upon the piano and also delighted the audience with some very sweet songs. This same Stevensville Band which is getting to be so famous will give a concert at Burchardville, Susquehanna county, on Saturday evening of this week and we can promise a rare treat with Mr. Cogswell a* director. The Brad ford county Musical Alliance is holding its 14th session at New Laeovville this week un der Mr. C's direction and will close with a i grand concert on Friday evening.
