Lost, somewhere in this borough, an old umbrella with a cover on it and a piece of red cord tied on the handle. Valued as a keep sake. Finder will confer a favor by leaving at this offlce.J The Eureka Mower Company received an order on Monday morning for a machine, but the last one had been sold. All hands were put at work, however, and before 3 o'clock the gentleman was supplied with a Mower. Enterprising establishment, and wonderfully popular Eureka. Mr. W. R. GILLETTE'S new farcical com edy. "The Professor," has entered upon the second month of its successful season at the Madison Square theatre. The management lias completed arrangements for the placing of a representative company on the road with this new production early in the approaching season. To the end that none of our numerous read ers in this borough may plead ignorance of the law, we re-publish the new dog ordinance with the suggestion that the borough author ities are in "dead earnest," and will see to it that the law is enforced. " A word to the wise is sufficient": ORDINANCE. Ala special meeting of the Council hold July 11, 1881, at which all the members were present except Cottncilnien McCnbe and Ralnn, the ordinance passed July 12th, 1880, was ammended as follows : Be it ordained by the Burgess and Town Council of the Borough of'Towanda, and it is ordained by the authority of the same, that the ordinance passed. July 12, 1880, in relation to dogs running on the streets of the Borough, he amended as follows: That from the first day of June to the 30th day of Beptember of each year it shall not be lawful tor dogs to be upon the streets within the Borough limits, without a muzzle, either with or without its owner; and it shall be the duty of the Pound Mas ter to seize, or cause to be seized, all dogs so run ning at large and impound them in a secure pound, and unless the owner, or owners of dogs so seized and impounded shall pay or cause to be paid to the Pound Master the sum of one dollar for the redemp tion of his or her dog within twenty-four hours from the time of such seizure it shall he the duty of the Pound Master to kill all such unreclaimed dogs. Any ordinance inconsistent herewith is hereby re pealed. Says the Auburn Advertiser: It now transpires that the Lehigh Valley railway of ficials who passed through this city a few days ago, were bent on something more thau pleas" ure alone. They took a trip over the great lakes in Col. PACKER'S steam yacht, for the purpose of inspecting the transportation fa cilities of the different ports, their ultimate object being the establishment of a line of boats to run in connection with the Lehigh Valley ro;id, As a result of this observation, the Buffalo Courier says that the Lehigh Yallev Lake Transportation Company was organized in that city Thursday, with the following named officers: President, R. A. PACKER; General Manager, It. F.GOODMAN; Superintendent, Capt. \\\ 11. HENRY. The Company has chartered for the season the monster new steamship "City of Rome,' owned by Messrs. "YVINSLOW; the steam barge "Queen of the West,"and the schooner "It. F. Bruce," both owned by JOHM KEL DKRHOUSE. These three vessels have a grain capacity of about 200,000 bushels, and can i carry some 4,000 tons of coal. It is under-' stood that Buffalo will be the port at which j cargoes will be unloaded and taken, but with the improvements now being made in Little Sodus harbor, we can see no reason why Fair Haven should not secure the benefit of this trade. It would be an exceedingly good thing for the Southern Central Railway Com- j puny if this could be secured, and would wake | up Fair Haven still more. Whether the Southern Central secures it or not, the scheme is an important one, aiul will do much to en hance the coal interests of the Lehigh organi zation. Manager It. F. GOODMAN, whose headquarters have heretofore been in Savre, Pa., will have charge of the enterprise. Have you noticed those handsome windows at C. F. Cross' book store? Lf not, go there and inspect them; then do thou likewise by decorating your transom and side lights around your front door, or a bath room win dow, or perhaps an office window, or in fact any glass in store, house or oflice that needs shading from the sun, and still receive the benefit of all the light. Many of our citizens are availing themselves of an inexpensive and handsome decoration, by using" Lum Smith's Imitation Stained Glass," for which we have the exclusive agency of Northern Pennsylvania,, and a great variety of paterns on hand testify to the fact that we can please any who may favor us with calls in that line.
