JARED IIEARL Esq. of Standing Stone, has
shown us a summons issued by the late Judge
GEORGE SCOTT, while acting as Justice of
tho Peace inJWysox township Luzerne county,
in September 1811, a year before Bradford
County was organized. The form of the
blank is about the same as the one used now,
is printed on very inferior paper, but looks as
clean and neat after seventy years as it did
when first issued. The writ was served by
WM. DININCER, constable, and the return
is made in a clear, legible hand. Mr. DININ
GER IS well remembered by the older people
of Towanda, as the school teacher of
half a century and more ago. He was an ed
ucated German, very near-sighted and ex
ceedingly passionate. Many amusing anec
dotes are still related of him by his former
pupils.
