( Co7itinued.J COIN, CURRENCY, COINAGE AND BULLION. The amount of gold coin in the United States, Nov. 1, 1880, was $454,012,030; silver coin, $157,271,327, according to the estimates of the Director of the Mint. The total coin and currency, including le gal tender notes, under the above esti mate is $1,302,708,480; of this amount $808,505,118 is stated as "in the hands of the people," viz: $200,397.519,g01d; $73,- 798,701, silver; $534,350,808, currency; the remainder being held by the banks, trust companies, the government and savings banks. The coinage of the Unit ed States Mint for 1880,g01d,550,157,735; silver, $27,942,437.50. The annual pro duction of gold for 1880, $30,000,000; sil ver, $30,200,000, according to the reports of the Director of the Mint. California produces the most gold; Colorado the most silver; Neyada next on the list for both. EXTORTS, IXrOUTS AND HOME CONSUMP TION. The total value of the exports for 1880, including coin and bullion was $833,29 4,- 240, against net imports, $844,501,725. The excess of exports over imports for 1880 is put down at $167,083,012. This excess with varying tigures has been con tinuous since 1870, the year '79 giving the largest excess, $204,661,660; of the several years included in the statement. For the year 1880 the excess of coin and bullion imports over exports was $75,- 801,301. England "sends us the largest amount of imports and is our best cus tomer ; the excess of exports being over 100 per cent for the year ending June 20, 1880. We imported for the same year 1,600,432,637 pounds of pig iron and 103,- 720,467 of railroad bars. We exported 153,752, 705 bushels of wheat; 6,011,410 barrels of wheat flour; 1,121,754 bushels of apples; 1,852,061,114 pounds of cotton ; 750,773,100 lbs. of bacon and hams; over 112,000,000 of beef, salted and fresh; 39,- 236,658 lbs. of butter; 127,553,007 lbs. of cheese; 374,077,286 lbs. of lard; 85,949,- 780 lbs. of pork; illuminating oil, 367,- 325,823 gallons; tallow 110,767,627 lbs.; leaf tobacco, 215,010,187 lbs. The gross value of tea imported in this year is $19,- 782,631 ; of coffee, $60,360,760, represent ing 446,850,727 lbs or 8 8-10 pounds per capita of the entire population, tea being 72,162,936 lbs. or 1 30-100 lbs. per capita. We exported 3,840,071 lbs. of wool and retained for home consumption, 356,791,- 676 lbs. We produced 2,771,706,156 lbs. of cotton and Imported 3,547,702 more. This is an increase of about 300,000,000 lbs. over the year '7O. Of this cotton we shipped 1,822,205,843 lbs. and retained for home consumption 953,040,005 lbs., or 34 per cent, leaving the export about 66 per cent. We produced 2,741,853 tons of pig iron and imported 754,657 tons more. We made 003,903 tons of steel and iron rails, and imported 152,791 tons more, a total of 1,146,784. We produced in '7O (set down against '80) 448,756,630 bushels of wheat, of which we exported 153,860,935 and retained for home con sumption 205,340,578, the consumption per capita being 5.80. We raised in the same period 1,547,001,700 bushels of In dian com, and exported 08,160,877, con suming 1,440,790,780; consumption per capita 28.01. We produced 413,760,410 gallons of fermented liquors and imported 1,007,207 more a total 0f+14,767,707 gal lons, all but 581,340 "retained for home consumption." We made 01,361.051 gal lons of distilled spirits from July 1, 1878, to June 30,1880,"withdrawn for consump tion." For '7O and 'BO there is set down to the country 100,972 hogsheads of sugar or 108,902.278 pounds; 12,180,100 gallons of molosses; and 20,728,520 lbs. of rice, a falling oil' of over 75 per cent of the pre vious years of 78-79, 77-78.
