handed us a copy of The Bradford Settler,
'• printed and published by 11. A. KERR, at
Towanda, Bradford county, Penn.," dated
February 10, 1831. The sheet is a trifle larger
than the REVIEW, and although tiic paper is
of inferior quality and faded, the ink is still
jet black, showing that a good quality of
printer's ink was made and used fifty years
ago. The first page is filled up with articles
on the " Indian question," and certain laws
before the legislature, with one short adver
tisement, that of JOHN E. GElGEß,gunsmith,
father and predecessor in business of our
valued townsman J. V. GEIGER. The latest
news is dated New York, Jan. 31, two weeks
before publication. Now we can got nous
from all parts of the civilized world, and
have it printed in less than two hours.
Maj. EZRA LONG of Troy inserts this char
acteristic and unique advertisement:

those indebted he would say, these are the last soft
words and gentle means ttu-y need expect until pay
ment is made. Punctuality is the life of business.
February7th, 1831. EZRA LONG.
The mill is still in the possession of a son
of Maj. LONG and doing a thriving business.
ALPHKUS INGIIAM, register, ugvertises the
