Y., and gave his uame aa CHARLES MCCONNKLL. He has been there moat of the time •util last Satur day, and has worked at making cigars, and odd jobs around. His reputation siuce he has been there has not been of the best. A few weeks since a description was sent of a man by the name of HENRY SAVERCOOL, who had broken jail at Towanda, Pa., to Officer J. F. WALKER, and after a time WALKER became convinced that his nam was here in the person of MCCONNKLL. On Friday night Chief-of- Police BURNS, of Towanda. arrived, and on Saturday morning, the man was identified and arrested, the case being adjourned to the 15th in order to give time to get a requisition. His real name is HENRY SAVERCOOL and Chief BURNS stated thnt he had served one term in the State prison and was lodged in jail in July last for grand larceny, on the complaiut of the Lehigh Valley railroad company. He escaped iu September last, and the company have been in search of him since and are bound to bring him, with others, to justice. SAVERCOOL, alias MCCONNELL, was married to a young lady in that place about a month since, and has another wife living in Pennsyl vania, so he is quite liable to remain in con finement, under the different charges for some time.— Owego Times. We clip the following notice of the death of Mr. THOS. DAVIS, from the Hazleton Bul letin of the 9th inst.: ANOTHER VICTIM OF THE COLLISION Mr. Thos. Dayis, a teacher of the East Ma haqoy township schools, who was injured in the railway collision near Meyersville, on Monday, Feb. 28th,died last evening from the result of his injuries. Mr. Davis, it will be remembered, was eu the coal engine, coming down to Bowman's patch, where he was teaching, aud was struck by the flying debris, several ribs broken, and internally injured. Mr. Davis a married man, and leaves a wife and famjly to mourn his loss. He was highly respected, by all who knew him. Last year he occupied the position of Superintend ent of Mahanoy township schools. Since the accident he suffered severe pain up to the time of his. death. He, will be buried on Thurs day ; interment a.L Mr. Davis in sured his life for a thousand dollars in the Era Insurance Company, about a week before the accident. State Spuator William T.Davis of Bradford county is a brother of the de ceased.— Parker's Tri Weekly. Mr. Davis was injured at the same accident when our townsman Mr* John Gicking was so seriously injured. Mr. Davis' wounds were thought trilling while Mr. Gicking's life was despaired of. Mr. Davis was known to many of our citizens; bet was at one time book keeper for Wm. Taggart at Mt Pleasant. He was a man of rare intellectual attainment and a gentleman whose every action was above reproach. He was' a good citizen, a warm friend, an affectionate husband and father.
