A few days since we wrote for an item, "D. F. PARK has been poor-master of Athens or 23 years," hut a compositor substituted the word post-master for poor-master. The blunder was so palpable that we did not think it worth while to correct it, hut now that several of our county cotemporaries have fal len into the same error, we are moved to say Mr. PARK has not been post-master of Athens during the lust 23 years at least. [These beautiful lines will touch a tender spot in many hearts in Towanda. They were written for the Tunkhaunock Standard , but the reference is to our own Riverside Cema terv, and the fair young daughter of the writer, whose remains were laid away to rest there only a few months since.] A little graveyard by the river's side. Nestling amid hills of beauty rare; My little oi.es and I, their number, live, Would oflimes in the summer wander there, And pause with tender, loving thought, beside Bome der.r friend sleeping by the riyer'a side. Clothed in the Autumn's richest coloring Was the lone graveyard path we trod once more. Hut ah! with sorrow-stricken hearts beside An open grave we grouped; our nt'.raber only four: Our gifted one, our darling hope and pride, We laid tier sleeping by the river's side. We gazed not on the rich autumnal tints, Or notod varied hues or rare perfumes of llowers; The sweetest bud just opening to our view, Goo took to blossom in the heavenly bowors; While angels chanted o'er the spirit purified; We left her sleeping by the river's side. Far from the cherished spot, to our sad hearts so dear, Where duty called, obediently we turned, And in our Master's service consolation found, And at His footstool sweet submission learned: In his kind, loving hands ourdarling glorified We leave fast sleeping by the river's side.
