It is thought it will be October betorc the obelisk reaches New York. I A State convention of the county, city and borough school superintendents of Pennsylvania will be held in llurrisburg on the 20tli, 21st auk 22d of April. The convention had been culled a week later, but in view of the fact that the Demo cratic State Convention will meet, there on April 28 the time was changed. It is announced that the first bill on the Senate calendar on Monday will be Mr. Kernun's bill for the New York Inter national Exhibition of 1883. The Senate will begin the week well by passing the bill promptly. If the Exhibition is to be the brilliant sucsess it should be, action by Congress cannot be safely delayed much longer. A government check for §310,500, for payment of quarterty interest on the four per cent, bonds, was paid through the Clearing House New York yesterday. This interest represents a principal of §31,050,000, which is the largest ho d ug of any one person in any of the govern ment securities. The daily income of tnat amount of bonds is * §3,450.
