WARM:aII is now ready in bis new and neat shop on Main street, opposite the court House, to attend to all business in hiS fine wl:h promptness and despatca. Tut President's Message ha's been quite fa lioralny, received. Its tone, while not. radical, fis yet firm enough to clearly indicate the course which the Government will pursue towards ;Rebels.' _ iGannwr DAVIS has been elected to fill the -racancy in the Kentucky Delegation iu the Senate, caused by the expulsion of John C. Breckinridge. MAJ. KILBOURNE :advertises for a few more recruits for the Tioga Companies in the 45th Regiment, soon to start for the "sunny South." Any one wishing to joie this Regiment can do so by reporting themselv i es in Wellsboro, at an early day. Tug report that Thad. Stevens, of this State, had said in a Republican caucus in Washing ton "that, after Mr. Cameron's Report had been accepted by the President, Gen. McClel lan threatened to resign if it was not modified before being sent into [Congress," is contra by Mr. Stevens. LATE developments show that instead of Fremont appointing his officers in Missouri withchit and• permission from the President, he was promised commissions for all officers he would find- necessary to appoint. Thus, fa by fact, will the Hero of Missouri be freed from tife miserable charges preferred against him be his enemies Go - v. Cease announces the true economic •doctrine, respect to the slavehf the rebels, whose confiscation he approves and advises, viz: that their labor will be most profitable to the country by making them free. The ante cedents of GO7. Close render it quite certain that lie favors the liberation of such slaves upon all grobnds, but we are glad to find him expreising the opinion, that even with the view limited to profit merely, in a large and national sense, it is for the true interest of the •countryt SITED His Ba.cox.—The editor of the Hun tingdon "Globe" came well nigh "pegging opt" •on reading the news from Pikeville - and Beim fort, and only saved his bacon by lettin ,-, off the following superfluities. Sound the Ton jen ! Mow the Hewgag ! Agitate the Viol ! Stir the Organrs Pulsate the Cymbal ! Exe cute the Psaltery I Blow the Trumpet ! Wield •the Tabret! Disturb the Timbrel ! Flourish the Shemenethi ! Flicker on the Squawker Wriggle the lbarse Fiddle ! Jostle the Bell ! Tertntbate the Tin Instruments 1 Let the Cannon Thunder! And the People shout! Glory Hallelujah ! • WE print this week the Reports of Messrs. Secretaries Cameron and Welles, and will pub lish the remaining Reports as_sve find room. 'The Report of Mr. Cameron is one of the ablest which has emanated from that Department. .Some months since fault was found in many 1 1 / a fters with the course he pursued, but that soon changed to admiration when toey saw the energy and ability displayed in all that pertained to his Department, and this his first ,report establishes firmlylind permanently the confidence with the people necessary to a suc cessful administration. His position in re gard to the disposal of the Rebel's slave pro perty meets the hearty approbation of the 'Anti-Slavery portion of tlie cotintry and shows that while being "conservative" he can yet be true to the real wants of the country. Charleston Burned Foaranss Mottnon, Dec. 13.—An incendiary fire broke out in Charleston at 9 o'clock on the evening of the 11th and at 5 o'clock the nest day it was still raging. . Nearly all that part of the city from Broad street on the South-East Bay on the east, and King street on the west, is said to be destroy ed), including the Catholic Cathedral, the Cir cular Church Institute, St. Andrew's Hall, the Theater, and the Executive Rooms. An extra train lad left Augusta with sup plies for the sufferers—thousands of whom roamed the streets—and assistance to fight the fire. It is 'sipposed to be a negro, insurrection, though this view of the ease . is 'excluded from the dispatches. • PHILLDELPIIIA, Dee. special dispatch from Baltimore to the Philadelphia Inquker, attributes the fire to slave insurrection, and says that one-half of Charleston is in ruins. .
