HENRY G ITT, Pres't. THOS. STEVENS, WM. MOOR, IVI'L BLAKE, GEORGE EGE, 'td. Feb. 18. To-the Directors of Comnao, schools, in .6ldanas County. THE following statement is made in cum• pliance with the 10th section of the school law, of June, 1836. -Districts that have accepted the Common School System. Tho amount which each accepting school district is entitled to receive the ensuing year, commencing on the Ist Tuesday of June next, out of the annual state appropri. ation, is a sum equal to ONE DOL%Mi for each taxable inhabitant in the district. The amount of School Tax required to be levied, to entitle a District to its share of the State appropriation, must be a sum equal to at least sixty cents, for each taxa ble inhabitant in the district. Districts that have not accepted the Com own School System. The amount cif undrawn balancesTemain. ing for the use of non•accepting districts, tor the school years 1835, 1836, 1837, 1838 and 1539, is FOUR DOLLARS and FOR TY emirs, for, each taxable inhabitant in a amtict, according to the enumeration of 1835; and for the school years 1840 and 1841, it is TWO DOLLARS for each taxable inhabitant, according to the enumeration of 1839. The school year 1841, will com mence on the Ist Tuesday of June next. Hence it follows that each non accepting school distridt.in which the qualified citi •xens accept the system, at the 'next spring, 'elections, and lay a tax equal to sixty cents for each taxable inhabitant, will be-entitled. 'to receive out ofth'e state appropriations, a sum equal to more than six DOLLARS, for each taxable inhabitant in the district. By a resolution of the Legislature, pass ed the 24th day of June, 1839, tho above undrawn balances are to be retained for the use of non.accepting districts only until the Ist of November, 1840. Oa which day they are to be repaid into the common -school fund. • `Hence it follows, that as the law now 'stands, unless the non.accepting districts accept the system at the next spring elec. tions, these undrawn balances amounting now to a sum adequate 'to the 'erection of school houses, and putting the system into complete operation, will be forfeited. No medicine has, perhaps, ever met with such decided and general success as GouleY's Vegetable -titters. rt 9 HIS medicine has been but a few years before the public, and the demand for it has already become so great, that the sub scriber 'finds*difficult to - supply the numer ous orders which ins is constantly receiving. Innumerdble Certificates in his possession bear testimony to its medicinal virtues and attest the fact of its having preserved the lives of hundreds both in this city and else where. 'His VEGETABLE COUGH DROPS, a new article, are also getting into general use, having been productive of the most be neficial effects in.hundreds of families of the first respectability in this city and vicinity 1 and although they have in one instance, but without any foundation or truth, been pro nounced poisonous, HUNDREDS of cert if.cates can be produced of their having performed positive and efectua cures in the most obsti nate cases, both on young and old, and he now challenges any one to produce satisfac tory evideuce that there is one particle of any ingredient in their composition that can injure a person in the lowest stage of any disease. Having administered his medicines to al most all diseases to which thq human fami ly are subjected, he never, in a single in stance, found thorn to produce any injurious effects, but, on the contrary, they have been attended with the most complete success. N. B.—As the Fever and Ague is very prevalent at this season of the year, he can confidently recommend iii 9 VEGETABLE BITTERS as a CERTAIN atinn, and invites all who may be afflicted with this dreadful disease to make trial of them. The attention of Masters and Owners of Vessels 19 called to this medicine; it will be found of great benefit nmong their crews, and a sure preventative of many of the di seases to which the mariner is subject during long and tempestuous voynges. LOUIS .GOULKY, • No. 213 Baltimore street, near the Centre Market, between Harrison and Frederick streets. Nuv. 25. ly ADVERTISEMENTS Diseases of the Lungs! melancho)y effects of which our IL obituaries painfully exhibit, have for some years been increasing to an alarming extent. The dreadful ravages of these complaints have in a vast number of cases been arrested, by the use of Dr. Relle's Asthmatic or Consumptive Pills, which have proved one of the most useful medicines ever yet discovered, for complaints of the Lungs generally. This medicine has re• stored a large number of persons, from the very borders of the grave, to health and society, who had been given over by their friends, and in many instances even by their Physicians, as past relief ! Among a large number of cases of cure by the use of this invaluable medicine, the following are gresented to the public. • Copy of a Letter. Dear Sir,—Having had a severe cough en tirely removed by the use of your Dr. Rel fe's Asthmatic Pills, (and occasional use of the Antibilious Pills!) I feel it a duty in cumbent on mo to inform you more min utely for the benefit of others who may in liko manner be affected. To be more patimilar, I would say that for about ten years past with but little in termission,( have been afkreted with a hard, dry, hackinrr" cough, attended with great pain and sinking of the stomach and with very little raising of phlegm—that I have tried from time to time many prescriptions, with no or at most, with a temporary relief and had become constrained to believe that I should recieve no lasting relief when I was recommended to make trial of the above named Pills, which 1 did with little confidence of a beneficial result, but contra• ry to my expectation, in a few days niv cough was wholly broken up, and subse. qurntly removed I I feel thankful fur the benefit I have re. ceived, and am fully persunded that many,' it not all, who are affected in the mani.er that I have been, would find a complete cure by doing as I have done. You are at lib erty to make use of this communication in any manner that you may deem most exp. client or productive of good. Respectfully yours, &c. (Signed) HORATIO N. CRANE. Boston, March 14th, 18311. Mr. Thompson Kidder. Aff other Letter. [From a gentleman of the first respectabili• ty, to whom reference can be made.] Mr. Kidder, Dear Sir:—Having been affected for several years past with weak lungs and a troublesome cough, which had become very alarming, I was induced to try the efitcacy of your Relle's Asthmatic Pills, from which I have derived so much benefit that I have recommended 'them to a number of my friends no a cure for coughs, colds, &c. and have heard of no instance in which the pa tient has not been benefittad. Beliemg 1-do that this medicine has, been the means of prolonging my life, and ! that of a near II iend, who is subject to a pulmonary complaint, you may rest assured that 1 shall avail myself of-every opportuni. ty to make others acquainted with its vir tues. Yours, truly, South Boston, Feb. 22d. 1636. Itemarkable• Case. A gentleman states an extrabretnury case, that of his wife, who was reduced so low by a pulmonary complaint, that symp toms of approaching dissolution 'began to exhibit themselves, so that her Physician intimated that nothing further could be done for her—that her case was past hu man skill, and the Doctor observed shortly after, 'while at a neighbors, that Mrs. %V. was about 'to leave us. The same evening a 'relation recommended a 'trial of these (Relfe's A sth mat ic.) Pills, they were acco•d ingly administered, producing such relief, and effectmg so favorable a change during the night, that in the morning strong hopes were afliided ofat least a partial restoration oilier health, which was effected, and made comparatively comfortable by a continued sue of these Pills. Timely Relief. A person recently from neglecttug slight cold, became so seriously affected with a severe cough, which notwithstanding every attempt to remove, became so bad as to oblige him to suspend attending to business, and filially to exhibit such alarm• ing symptoms as to excite serious fears for the result--in these circumstances he was advised to make use of these Pills, which he did, and with such complete success, as to be able to resume his business in a few days, entirely cured I Much more testimony might bo produced to prove this one of the best medicines ever discoversd for all stages of Consumption, Coaghs, Colds, Asthma, Hoarseness, ‘Vheesing, Difficulty of breathing, Tight ness of the Chest, Pain in tie Side, Spitting of Blood, &c. &c.
