More Evidence.
Under Gov. Ritner's administration the expenses
on the Juniata Division of the Penn. Canal, per
Ably, were:
One Supervisor,
Four Foremen,
Four Horses,
Nine Laborere,',
$2 50
$1 50 6 00

Which being multiplied by 30, (the number of
days in a month) gives $573 a 9 thethe expenses per
month.
Under the first year of David R. Porter's admin
istration, when JAS. CLARK was Canal Commis

Div Supervisors, $2 60 $5 00
Six Foremen, 1 90 ""9 00
Nix Horace, 3 75
Thirty Laborers, 90 27 00
• Which multiply by 30, gives $1,342 50 us
the monthly expenses! An increase per month
over the expenses of the previous administration of
SLY HUNDRED AND SEVENPY-SIX DOL
LARS AND FIFTY CENTS! ! !
The same system of extravagance was carried
on throughout the State, and in some instances even
grosser abuses were practiced, and is but another
evidence of the profligacy of James Clark as a
Canal Commissioner, and of his total unfitness for
the office.

State Plunderers.
The Miltonian says that among the list of de
faulters, or as they are now more familiarly called
by the anti-Porterites, "Slate Plunderers," stands
conspicuous, the Lame of MR. JOHN SNYDER,
late Supervisor of the Susquehanna division of the
Canal. He was Supervisor only TWO YEARS,
and is a defaulter for but a small amount, compared
with some others—his deficiency is only
,9$ 1,341 44!
(See Senate Journal, Session 1843, Vol. 2, page
293.) Snyder was also a defaulter to the General
Government for a large amount, as Collector of the
Excise Tax, immediately after the last war. Ho is
now the Locofoco Candidate for Congress in the
13th District.

hopeless by their physicians. Such happy

to recommend the use of his medicines to
his fellow citizens.

the secretion+ of the system—carrying ofr
till acrimonious humors, and assimilating
and purifying the blood. For this rea , cm,
in aggravated cases of Dyspepsia, the Life
Vledirines will give relief in a shorter
space of time than any other prescription:
In Fever and Ague, Inflammatory Rheu
matism, Fevers of every ileac, iption, Sick
headaches, Heartburn, Dizziness in the
Head, Pains in the Chest, Flatulency, lin.
piked Appetite, and in every disease ari.
sing from impurity et the blood, or a nisi
ordered state of the stomach, the use of
these medicines has always proved to be
tieyond doubt, greatly superior to any
other mode of treatment.
All that Dr. !Moffat asks of hie patients
is to be particular in taking them accor
ding to the directions. It is not by a
newspaper notice, or by any thing that he
may say in their favor, that he hopes to
gain credit. It is alone by the result of a
lair trial. Is the reader an invalid, and
- dorm he wish to know whether the I✓ife

let him call at the office of the agent, and
orocure a copy of the Good Samaritan,
published gratuitously. lie will there
