The Miltonian says that among the list of de faulters, or as they are now more familiarly called by the anti-Porterites, "Slate Plunderers," stands conspicuous, the Lame of MR. JOHN SNYDER, late Supervisor of the Susquehanna division of the Canal. He was Supervisor only TWO YEARS, and is a defaulter for but a small amount, compared with some others—his deficiency is only ,9$ 1,341 44! (See Senate Journal, Session 1843, Vol. 2, page 293.) Snyder was also a defaulter to the General Government for a large amount, as Collector of the Excise Tax, immediately after the last war.
