The war ia which the nation is engaged against armed aud infatuated Rebels, and the radical policy of the administration which prolongs it, have conspired to bring together upon one platform and coiiserva tive. Union-loving aud Constitution loving men, of whatever former name and creed, many of those who, within the limits of the Constitution, fought the battles of the ballot box under tha leadership of those patriotic statesmen of other and better days, Henry Clay aud Daniel Webster, together with the masses whose principles were those of such patriots as Andrew Jackson aud Willi lm L. Marcv. Silas Wright and Stephen A Doug las, now stand shoulder to shoulder upon the same platform and under the same banner. The platform is a plain one. It is to restore the Union, maintain the Constitution, and en force the Laws. Whatever makes for this end, the exercise of force or the policy of conciliation. THE WORLD w ill advocate : whatever makes against it THE WORLD ! will oppose. It will oppose ewry enemy t THE; UNION, whether armed in rel cllioii at the Souther inoiduous'y planting the seeds of disunion and essential disloyalty at the North. It will oppose every violation -f THE CONSTITUTION, which is the only hope and bond of Union, and our only authority for exhorting or compelling the allegiance of the South. It will oppose every infraction of THE LAW, in high phi'-es or low, by reckless and misguided partisans, or by the adminis tration which has been their example. It will fe irlessly exercise the Freedom of the Press; it will constantly uphold and defend Freedom tf Speech and Freedom f the Ballot. To th'! lawless acts of the Administration, its arbitrary and unjust arrests and expatri ations, its denial of th right to the writ if habeas corpus, its illegal proclamations, its abrogation of Slato and federal laws, its despotic accumulations of ungranted power, and its subversions of the safeguards of civil and personal liberty, it will constantly op- fose the letter and the spirit of our supreme aw and the advocacy of so ind doctrine, until Aaierican freemen shall be roused to the recovery of their rights, their liberties, their laws, and their limited and well-balanced government, by the resistless decision of the ballot. Profoundly impressed with the desire to contribute all that it may to the great work of this generation, namely, to restore our national unit-, and to place the United States again foremost among the nations of the earth, and first in peace, prosperity, and happiness of its people. THE WORLD seeks from those who desire such things their sympathy and support, and, above all, the favor of Ilim who crowns every good work. TERMS: DAILY WORLD. Although not disposed to favor or recom mead Patent Medicines in general, through distrust of their ingredients and effects, 1 vet know of no sufficient reasons why a man may not testify to the benefits he believes ! himsely to have received trom any simple preparation, in the hope that he may thus contribute to the benefit of others. I do this the more readily in regard to Iloolland's Germm Bitters, prepared by Dr. C. M. Jackson of this city, because 1 was prejudiced against them f" r many years, uiider the impression that they were chiefly an alcoholic mixture I am indebted to my friend Robert Shoemaker, Esq., for the re moval of this prejudice by proper tests, and for encouragement to try them, when suffer ing from great and long continued debility. The use of three bottles of these Bitters, at the beginning of the present year, was fol lowed by evident relief, anil restoration to a degree of bodily and mental vigor which ! had not felt for six months before, and had almost -tlespaired of regaining. I therefore thank God and my friend for directing me to the use of them. J. N EWTON BROWN. Philad'a. June 23, 18ol. The proprietors arc daily receiving thank ful letters from sufferers in the army and hospitals, who have bee n restored to health by the use of these Bitters, sent to them by their friends.
