There was nn awful riot in the Second avenue this afternoon, in which the military charged and tired several times, killing fifteen and wouoding many. Col. O'Brien was captured by the mob, leaten to a jelly and then hung to a lanip ost at the corner of Thirty-fourth street and Second avenue. A building in which sonic twenty armed rioters were plying their work of plunder, was surrounded by the joliee There was only one door of exit, and every rioter as li3 appeared at this door, was handsomely beaten to the ground by the jRtlice. The mob was also defeated by the po lice, aided by regulars in Fifth avenue, 1 ict ween 38th and 4Sth streets. A heavy riot is also going on in Tenth n venue. There is much' rioting to-night at the Eighth avenue and Twenty-ninth street, where the mob ap pears to have some kind of headquarters. A considerable force of troops and the joIice attacked the mob, and at the last accounts were tiring rapidly ujon them. Many are supposed to be killed ami wounded. EXCITEMENT IN ISKOOk'LYX. During the absence of the police from Brooklyn last night, there was a mob raised in the Second ward, which sacked nearly every house occupied by colored jieoplc in that locality, and leat the in matos in a terrible manner. A large number escaped, ami sought protection at the Forty-second precinct station-houses, while the crowd demolished their furni ture, and threw everything moveable into the street. Several houses in (Jreen lane, n.tr Frospect street, were ransacked by the crowd, and two colored women were badly injured by being struck with stones. They took refuge at the Forty-second pre cinct station-house A house on, Prospect street, occupied by a colored family, was sacked by a crowd of half grown boys. A colored man was brought to the Forty-second precinct station-house, 1k badly beaten that his recover)-is considered "doubtful. Nearly every colored jK-rson on the streets last night was attacked and bea ten in the most brutal manner. Comptroller Farron addressed a lare crowd about half-past eight o'clock lat night on the comer of Mynle and Fulton avenues, contending that that the con scription was entirely illegal and would be so declared fly the courts ; that the Constitution handed down by our fore fathers was good enough for hi in or any other citizen, but it had been w-dated by the Administration from the time tley went into power- Mr. Farren was load'.y cheered. EXCITEMENT IN JERSEY CITY. A number of empty cars were dispatch ed from Jersey City this morning for the purpose it is .-fated of bringing on troops from Pennsylvania. The draft in Jersey City, it is under stood, was to has taken place on Monday next, but on account of the popular feel ing has been indefinitely posjioned. Great excitement prevailed in Jersey City list evening on account of a rumor to the effect that a number of the rioters were going to cross the river and tear up the railroad track, so as to prevent the arrival of troops. It was at one time proposed to stop the fern-boats from run ning. The shore opposite New York was crowded with people among them sev eral of the workmen from the Monitor Yard, who openly expressed their sympa thy with the doings of the mob The excitement at Harlem va3 very considerable last night, and the convev ances to the lower part of the city very limited.
