While going down th! river Euphrates, Le ex. perienced a severe attack of Fever and Ague Ot discovering his condition, one of the Boat men took from his person an Amuld, saying, Wear this awl no Fever Kill touch you." Al though incredulous as to its virtues; he complied, and experienced immediate relief, and has since always found it an elfectual protection from all malarious complaints. On further investigation he found that the boatman attributed to it miraculous powers, and sail that it could only be obtained from the Priests of th Sun. Some time afterwards, the gentleman in conversing with a Priest obtained from him the secret of its preparation, and as certained where the medicinal herbs were found, of which it was compounded. The wonderful virtues of this article have induced a full belief in the minds of the natives in the miraculous healing powers of their Priests. Since his return to America, it has been - tried with the happiest effect by several Ladies and Gentlemen of bigh character, who have given it the mtst unqualified praise. This remedy having been a tpeciiic in Persia for hundreds of years, for the prevention and cure of Fever and Ague and Bilious Fevers is now offered to the Amer ican people. Ini.oxious in all malia 11 in which it b;s been tried, it has proved alsdut.ly cuiU".e in each if the following coUiplaints, viz: In De'jilitti. Nervous Aftctions, EnuteiuHcn, Diyjx-psia. CriiStiiilion. Diurrlura, Dysentery, Iitcijiimt Consumption, Scrtfvlnus TiJjercviosis. Salt Rheuui, MismeitxtrwiUon. Witi'it. Chlorosis, Licvr Complaints , Chronic HtadacJtes, Ilheutiia tisut, Intermittent Fevers, Pimjles ou the Fac4, 4"C. In ca.;s of General Debility, whether the re sult of acute disease, or of the continue! dimi nution of nervous and muscular energy from Chronic complaints ci.e trial t f this restorative has proved successful to an extont which no description nor written attestation would render credible. Invalids ko iocg bed-ridden as to have become furgotton i their own neighboi hoods, have sud leuly re-appeared in the busy world as if just returned from a protracted travel in a distint Ltnl. Sorue very signal instances of this kiud are attested of female SuEcrers, emaciated victims of apparent marasmus, sanguineous "X haustion, critical changes, and that compilation of nervous and dyspeptic aversion to air and exercise for which the physician has no name. Iu Nervous Affectkns of all kinds, and for reasons familiar to Medical men, the operation of this 'preparation of Iron must tecessarily be salutary, for, unlike the old oxides, it U vigor ously touic, without being exciting and over heating, and gently, regularly aperient, even in the mjst ob-stinato cases of costive nes without ever being a gastric purgative or inflicting a dis agreeable sensation. It is this latter property, among others which makes it so remarkably effectual and permanent a remedy for Piles, upon which it also appears to exert a distinct and specific actioa, by dis persing the local tendency which forms them. In Dysipsia innumerable as are its causes, a single box of these Chalybeate Pills has often sutiieed for the most habitual cases, including the attendant costiceness. Iu unchecked Diarrhoea, even when advanced to Dysentary, confirmed emaciating and appa rently inalignent, the cfTocts have been equally decisive and astonishing. In tbe local pains, loss of flesh and strength, debiliatibg cough, and remittent hectic, which generally indicates Incipient Consumption, this remedy has allayed the al-rra of friends and physicians, in several very gratifying and in teresting instances. In Scrofulous Tubcrculsls, this medicated iron has had far more than tbe good effect of the mot cautiously balanced preparations t-f idione, without any of their well known liabilities. The attention of females cannot 1 too confi dently invited to this remedy and restorative, in the caoes peculiarly affecting th-bin. In Rheunir.tUm, both Chronic and inian atory ia the latter, however, more decidedly it has been iuvariahjy well reported, both as alleviating pain and reducing the swellings and stilncss of the joints and muscles. In Intermittent fevers it must necessarily be a great remedy and energetic ret- rative, and its progress in the new settlements cf the West will probably bo one of high renown and use ulness. No remedy has ever been discovered in the whole his t ry of medicine, which exerts such prompt, happy and fully roatoratie efL-cts. Good appetitee, complete digestion, rapid ac quisition of strength, with an unusual disposi tion for active and cheerful exercise, immediate ly follow its use. Put tip in nea.
