Wfiento Turn Oat Cows. It is best to tarn oat stcwk early for sever- reason O-ie is thit from tha 10th of Miy to the 19-h of Jans is the best feed month ia the year. Another reason for tur ning ost as soon as the grass gets started is, that the stock don bitter than if kept ap un til the feetl is rank. In the latter ease they fcoar bally, while if turned out early they do not scour at all, and after a few days will tat hay again. Many cows are injured, and spoiled, by turning them from hay to rank clorer Not only does the stock do better, but the pasture yields more feed. By tur ning out early the eattle go into the low pla ces, where the grass starts first, and eat them down, insteal of leaving them go to seed as they will if plenty of better is to be Lad. This poor grass if fed down early, starts up fresh, and will again be eaten and kept fed down throagh the season. manure. The Country Gentleman says the greater the amount of manures we can apply in any year, the larger our fields niiy be. Bat it is far batter to grow large crops on a few acres, than to grow small crops on a great many acres To return to the Crst crop heretofore ! proposed, we would repeat that no farmer should plant more laud to corn than he can thoroughly enrich with mannro Tt will then be fit for any following crop. No farmer ehould plough up any portion of his farm un less he can prepare it for growing good crops by manureing and culturo. Every farmer should keep stock, that ha may be able to grow grain, and he should grow grain that he may be able to feed stock and make ma nure. If we avail ourselves of every fertali zar within our reach if we make our fields accord with our manure, enriching each of them thoroughly in its turn we shall soon be able to give every crop, and the whole farm, that preparation and culture which shall iasure its productiveness and certain profit. (Small Farms Avell Cultivated. One of the best reasons for commencing farming ou a small scale, is found in the fact that farmers are often urged to work less land and cultivate what they do work better. They are repeatedly told that a few acres well tilled would yield more clear profit than twice or three times the amount of land cul tivated. The correctness of this kind of rea soning 13 further shown by the frequent pub lication of accounts of good crops and large profits that have been realized by the skillful cultivation of a few acres in the best manner. All of which goes to show what by experi ence and observation we hav also found to be true that as large net proceeds, or clear profits, may be made on a little farm from fifteen to twenty acres as is usually realized on from fifty to sixty acres. Charcoal. Charcoal surpasses all other Bubstances in the power which it possesses of condensing ammonia within its pores, particularly when it has been previously heated to redness. It absorbs ninety times its volume of ammoni cal gas, which may be again separated by moistening it with water. It is by the virtue of this power that the roots of plants are sup plied in charcoal exactly ad in humus, with an atmosphere of carbonic acid and air, which is renewed as quickly as it is abstracted. Charcoal Las a physical as well as chemical effect on soils, which is decidedly useful. It renders them as far as it is present, light and friable, and gives additional warmth to them by its oolor, and retains readily the rays un during the day. "Wherever charcoal has been applied, rust never alFecta the growth o wheat. Leibiy. Grafting TS"as. "Three paita rosin, three part3 beestrax and t o part3 taUow. Some also dip strips of eotton cloth.- an inch or an inch and a hal wide, into the hot wax, stripping ii through between two pieces of wood and applying ar ound the graft. The perfect covering for gratis is that which will always adhere to the stock, and will not crack in the winter, or rue in the summer. How to. Make Extra Branches Grow on rear Tree: A writer in the Virginia Farm Jtrurnal states that he has eacccedcd in itart iftg branches on his pear trees wherever he wi.hes a limb to grow. He says; "A care ful examination will show plenty of dormant eye, or knurls on the stock. To produce a hoot, a islit or gash ia made over the eve, and into the wood, with a knife or fine saw, which by checking the flow of sap, starts these dor riant eye into life, and in threo cases out of four ft branch shoots forth." I.ever Watch, warrants.' homes iiftmaor nm Above we present you with a likeness of DR. MORSE the inventor of MORSE'S INDIAN ROOT PILLS. This philanthropist has spent the greater part of his life in traveling, having visited Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as North America has spent three years arucng the Indians of our Western country it was in this way that the Indian Root Tills were first discovered, ' Dr. Morse was the first man to es tablish the fact that all diseases arise from IM PURITY OF THE BI.OOD-th?.t our strength, health and life depended upon this vital fluid. When the various passages become clogged, and do not act iu perfect harmony with thelif ferent functions of the body, the blood loses its action, ltecomes thick, corrupted, and diseased; thus causing all pains, sickness and ditres of every name; our strength Is exhausted, our health we are deprived of, and if nature is not assisted in throwing off the stagnant humors, the blcod will become choked and cease to act, and thus our light of life will forever be blown out. How impoitant then that we should keep the various parages of the body free and open. And how pleasant to us that we have it io our power to put a medicine in your reachnamtly, Morse's Indian Root Pills, manufactured from: plants and roots which firow around the mountainous cliffs iu Nature's Garden, for the health and leeovcrv of diseased man. One of the roots from which thete Pills are made is a Sudorific, which opens the pores of the skin, and assists Nature in throwing out the finer parts of the corruption within. The second is a plaut which is an Ex pectorant, that opens and unclogs the pas-sage to the lungs, and thus, in a soothing manner, per forms its duty in throwing off phlegm, and other humors from the lungs by copious spitting. The third is a Diuretic, which gives douLIc ease and strength to the kidneys ; thus encouraged, they draw large amounts of impurity from the blood, which is then thrown out bountifully by the uri nary or water passage, and which could" notliave been discharged in any other way. The fourth is a Cathartic, and accompanies the other prop erties of the Pills while engage! ia purifying the Hood; the coarser particles of impurity which cannot pa.s by the other outlets, are thus taken up and' conveyed off in great quantities by the uoweis. From the above, it is shown that Dr. Morse' Indian loot Fills " not otly enlcf the stomach but become united with the blood, for they Gut way to every part, ami completely rout out and cleanse the system from all impurity, and the l.le of the body, which is the blood, becomes per ri 'ii i ti i leuny ne:wu y , c n-jo'iuenuy an sicimess and pain is driven from the system, for they cannot remain when the body becomes so pure and clear. The reason vhypeople are so distressed when sick, and why so many die, is because thev do not get a medicine which will pass to the afflic ted parts, and which wiu open tue natural pas sage for the disease to be cast out; hence, s large quantity of food and other matter is l.nlg cd, and the stomach and intestines are literally overflowing with the corrupted mass; thus un dergoing a disagreeable fermentation, constantly mixing with the blood, which throws the cor rupted matter through everv vein and artery. umu nie s lascn irom tue Body by disease. Dr. Morse's PILLS have added to themselves vieton upon victory, by restoring millions of the sick to blooming health and happiness. Ye, thousands who have been racked or tormented with sick ness, pain and anguish, and whose feeble frames have been scorched by the burning elements of f i . racing lever, ana who have rcen brought, as it were, within a step of the silent grave, now stand ready to testify that they would have been numbered with the dead, had it nvt been for this great and won lerful medicine, Morse's In dian l.oot 1 ills. V,.. 1 .1- il ! f i iot um no iney ive lmmpuiaie ease and strength, and take away all sickness, pain and anguish, but they at once go to work at the foundation of the diseise, which is the blood. Therefore, It will be shown, especially by those who use these Tills, that they will cleanse and purify, that disease that deadly enemy will take its flight, and the flush of youth and beaut v will again return, and the prospect of a long and happy lite will cherish and brighten your davs C?"Sold by Thomas Devine, Ehensburg, and by Medicine Dealers generally throughout the County; It.
