Interesting Facts for Farmer. We tafc from a long article by a corres pondent in the New England arntrr, the following extract, which we are sure will be perused with- interest, by oar agricultural readers: Every practical, observing tiller of the noil well undei stands that no guano, super-phosphate or other nitrogenous or highly concen trated manures, can restore to the soil the Xoai carbon, which has supplied a succession of crops, which are essential materials which enter into the fourteen elements of grain, fruits and grass. The true principle of agri cultural science introduces another system, natural, plain and altogether dissimilar. The forest must give up her store of carbon, and ebe manufactures a large surplus annually, so nicelv elaborated by nature's laws as to fix its ammonia, and yet fitted for a powerful ab torbant of liquid manures, with power to re kist decomposition until brought in ccntact with the roots of plants. The swamps must yield up their store of vegetable wealth, the rich inurgania materials of surrounding hills and forests, to reunite with the mlnerel salts too firmly fixed ia the eoil to be washed away by the annual rains. The organic laws of the Universe established by the Creator, for he government of all change and formal conditions of properties of matter whether in a crude mineral organueJ or detached con dition, are as uniform and unerring as the physical laws that govern the rising and set tin of the sun . As the demand for carbon to form fat muscle, collar tissue bone braia, hair and other portions of the human body, and at the sime time keep up an animal heat of 93 degrees night and day, is very great we readily see why starch is so abundant in all plants ud as food for man and beast. Starch contains a large amount of carbon, and the swamps of the old States aro holding the great bulk of carbon today. We must increase the productiveness -of rural labor by introducing into the present mode of farming more system in the science of vegetable phys iologj. Every one knows that new land, never sub jected the cultivation, will produce in abun dance, all the crop which that country or dis trict is susceptible of producing. Hence we are advised that the forests and swamps of any hilly region bold its vegetable wealth. Sci ence now comes to our aid, and teaches us how to change a cold subsoil into a warm, pliable, productive, surface soil. Practical experience has taught us that a good soil which nroduces 100 pounds of ripe wheat t & . plants, loses but 1G pounds of its weight and substance bv the operation, so pounds com- Dg from the atmosphere. Science reveals to xzs why it is that in combustion, respiration and decomposition, and immense amount of organized matter is dissipated through the a;r lafuioa izi'.o the plants by atmospheric pressure, or gihercd up by the fallicg dews, rains and snows returned to the earth and the roots of plants, and thence by capilliary at trao'ion, drawn into the kernel, and elabora ted as food for man and beast. Top-Dressing Grass and Grain Crops In Spring-. We wculJ remind our southern readers, in latitude where the spring commences this month or neit, that the top-dressing of grain crops is highly important. Where the soils are evidently thort of potash, top-dress with wood ashes; where there are generally defi cient in the production of crops, top-dres3 with one bag of Nitrogenized Super-phosphate of Lime per acre, previously mixing it with three or four times its bulk of soil to se cure its e van devision. Such practice will pay a good profit; it should he applied before the spring rains, so that it will he evenly di vided through the soil and brought in contact with the spon'ioles on their early etarting. We have known grain crops to he materially incras 1 by such practice. Further North the griS3 'crops should he top-dressed in the eauie manner. We have frequatly known an iaorc-iM of a ton of hay to the acre by this cractlce. And where the intention i3 to plow up eld sods, such top-dressing secures so a division of the manure used, as to render it peculiarly available for the use of the intend ed crops. When potatoes or corn are to be ;rcwn on the old sod, a still larger amount phosphate may be used with advantage. In thus early top-dressing, it not only furnishes pahu!u-m for the intended crop, but material ly acs'sta in the decomposition of the sod, rendering the decomposed organic matter St pabulum for immediate assimulation. IForfc iny Farmer, Ssrawberrles, We know of no more important fruit than the strawberry; there is certainly none to which more attention has been given. Many persons have not had arrangements made for planting in the fall, and have therefore defer red till Spring. They must be promptly at work as soon as the weather will permit, for there ia little time to spare. Care must be taktn iu removing the plants, selecting only young end vigorous plants of last season, re jecting all with eld roots. The fibres must not le brckea, but if necessary trimmed off a little. The soil should bo rich and friable; allow ample space for the plants, at least a foot apart in the row; rows throe feet apart. JOB WORK nf aU kind don at Above we present you with a likeness of DR. MORSE the inventor of MORSE'S INDIAN ROOT PILLS. This philanthropist has spent the greater part of his life in traveling, having visited Lurope. Asia, and Ainca, as well as North America has spent three years among the Indians ot our v estern country it was in this way that the Indian Root Fills were first discovered. Dr. Morse was the first man to es tablish the fact that all diseases arise from IM PURITY OF THE BLOOD that our strength. health and life depended upon this vital land. When the various passages become clogged, and do not act in perfect harmony with the dif ferent functions of the body, the blood loses its . . . ii t j i j j. . action, becomes t mcs, corrupieu, ana aiseasc-u; thus causing all pains, sickness and distress of every name; our strength is exhausted, our health we are uepnveo oi, ana u nature is not assisted in throwing off the stagnant humors, the blood will become choked and cease to act, and thus our light of life will forever be blown out. How impoitant then that we should keep the various passages ot the body tree ana open. Ana how pleasant to us that we have it in our rower to put a medicine in your reach, namely. Morse's Indian Root Pills, manufactured from slants and roots which grow around the mountainous cliffs in Nature's Garden. Kr the health and recovery of diseased man. One of the roots from whic these rills are made is a suaorinc, wmcn opens the pores of the skin, and assists Nature in throwing out the finer parts of the corruption witbm. a. he second is a plant which is an Ex pectorant, that opens and unclogs the passage to the luns, ana tnus, in a soommg manner, per forms its duty in throwing off phlegm, and other humors from the lunjrs by copious spitting. The third is a Diuretic, wLich gives double ease and strength to the kidneys ; thus encouraged, they draw large amounts of impurity from the blood, which is theu thrown out bountifully by the uri nary or water passage, and which could not have been discharged in any other way. The fourth is a Cathartic, and accompanies the other prop erties of the Pills while engaged in purifyius the blood ; the coarser particles of impurity which cannot pass by the other outlets, are thus taken up and conveyed off ia great quantities by the bowels. From the above, it is shown that Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills not oidy eutcr.il' stomach, bnt become united with the blood, for they Cnd way to every part, and completely rout out and cleanse the system from all impuritv, and the life of the body, which is the blood, becomes per fectly healthy : cimsequently all sickness and pain is driven from the system, fr they cannot remain when the body becomes so pure and clear. The reason vhypeople are so distressed when sick, and why s a many die, is because they do not get a medicine which will pass to the nfll:c ted parts, aud which will open the natural pas sage for the disease to be cast out ; hence, a large quantity of fxxl and other matter is lodg ed, and the stomach and intestines are literally overflowing with the corrupted mass; thus un dergoing a disagreeable fermentation, constantly mix'ns with the blood, 'which throws the cor rupted matter through every vcan 1 artery, until life :s taken from the body by disease. Dr. Mrse's PILLS have added to themselves victorv upon victory, by restoring millions of the sick to blooming health and happiness. Yei, thousands who have been racked or tormented with sick ness, pain and anguish, and whose feeble frames have been scorched by the burning ele;ncnts of raging fever, and who have been brought, as it were, within a step of the silent grave, now stand ready to testify that they would have been numbered with the dead, had it not been for tliis great and wonderful medicine, Morse's In dian Uo't Fills. After one or two doses had been taken, they were astonished, and absolutely surprised, m witnessing their charming eir charminz effects. Not only do they give immediate ease and strength, and take away all sickness, pain and anguish, but they at once go to work at the foundation of the disease, which is the bio k1. Therefore, 't will be shown, especially by those who use these Pilis. that they will cleanse and purify, that disease that deadly enemy will take its flight, and the tiu&h of j-outh and beauty u-ill aniin t-iil n ri n nil tit TrrkCt kiW-f tf St Inner rtil ft,, Ill .
