Scott. Yes ; and he proved his friendship by hanging twenty of them at the city of Mexico, and re gretted he could not string up a few more. And he afterwards stated that no Irishman had ever turned against his adopted country. Why then were they hung ? Senator Seward, Scott's right hand man, proves his love for the "Foreign Irish" by gravely proposing to exchange them with Vir ginia (cargo for cargo) for nigger slaves, saying "New York would gain by the exchange, as the Irish had become a nuisance." What Irishman speaks first to go and vote for Scott, the hangman of his countrymen? Pitt, Union. The Liquor Law in Massachusetts. Boston, Sept. 13. Wterdav. at Watertown, Z. Porter, of the y w Cambridge Cattle Fair Hotel, and Samuel Knights, of the Watson House, were brought before Justice White, on complaint for selling liquor. Quite a row ensued, in which the Jus tice was insulted, and some of the government witnesses compelled to flee for safety. A man named Rkhardson, said to be employed as an informer by the temperance men, drew a knife and pistol, when he was knocked down and dis armed. A complaint was then made against him for carrying concealed weapons, and he was required to give bail for trial. Knights was occfuitted for selling liquor, and the trial of Porter was postponed. The Court adjourned amidst great excitement and confusion. Cuba. The New York Times s lys that on Tuesday, 'Commodore iVrry received a telegraphic dis patch requesting him to come immediately to Washington. Those who profess to know, say that the 'Government has information that an at tempt will again be made to invade Cuba from porta in the United States, and that Commodore Terry has been ordered to Washington that the Government may have the benefit of his advice, it is further said that the Lommodore will in a few days sail for Havana in the steamer Miss issippi, for the purpose of preventing any in fraction of -our .treaty stipulations with Spain. o "Buckshot and Ball !"
