Act to provide for the election of
Ju tees at the several Courts of this Common
wsaHh, and to reimlate certain Judicial ins
trict, it is provided
That the qualified voer3 of each of the scleral
counues of this Commonwealth shall at the next
iceoeral election, at the times and places of elec
t? representatives, and whenever it shall here
tter become necessary for an election under this
aaa un-ler the constitution of this Common
tilth, vote for five persons at the first election,
l at every election thereafter, as many

the Commissioners and Assessor, or his right to
vote whether found thereon or not. is objected to
by any qualified citizen, it shall be the duty of

Every person qualified as aforesaid, and

" If any p-erson shall prevent or attempt to
prevent any officer of any election under this act
from holding such election, or use or threaten
any violence to any such officer, or shall inter
rupt or imp roperly interfere with Liin in the
execution of his duty, or shall block up the win
dow, or avenue to any window where the same
may be holding, or shall riotously disturb the
p-eace at such election, or snail use or p ractice
any iiiMim.LiSn? threats, fore r violence, with
design j influence unduly or overawe any elec
tor or t p-revont him from voting or to restrain
the freedom of choice, such persem on conviction
:-hAil be fine-1 in any sum not exceedin g five
hundred dollars and be imprisoned for any time
not less than one mrrrth nor more than twelve
i?v.nrhs. and if it slrv.ll be shown to the court,
where the trial of such offences shall be had.
that the person so oibrndinc: was not a resident
of the city, ward, or district, or township where
the said offence was committed, and not entitled
to a vote therein, then on conviction, he shall be
sentenced to pay a fine of not less than one hun
dred nor more than one thousand dollars, and be
imprisoned not less than six m-.Titha nor more
than two years.
Pursuant to the provisions contained in the
7oth section of the act first aforesaid, the judges
of the aforesaid districts shall respectively take
charge of the certificate or return of the election
of their respective districts, and produee them at
a meeting of one judge from each district, at the
Court House in the borough of Eboiisburg, on
the third day after the day of election, being for
the present year on FKI1 VV the 17th of OCTO
BER next, then and there to do, and p erform
the duties required by law of said judges. Also,
that where a judge by sickness or unavoidable
accident, is unable to attend said meeting of
judges, then the certificate or return aforesaid
shad be taken charge of by one of the inspectors
or the clerks of the election of said district, who
shall do and perform the duties required of said
judge unable to attend.
Given under my hand at my office, in Ebens
burg, the bth day of September, A. D. 1851 and
of the Indepcndence of the Cnited States of
America, the seventy-sixth.
