Court Maitialed for riot catching . Lopez at Cardenas. -1 - 1 : ' ' "- The two ressels belonging to the ex pedition, which were captured, have been brought in here. It is not yet known what will be done with the men that were found on board of them. Of the five ta ken ut Cardenas, four were shot, and one was pardoned because he saved the Jife of a Spanish roldier. The Falcon took on a considereble number of passengers to Chagres. The Cuba prisoner. The Patria, which of course knows all about it, says that on the 27th ult. the prisoners cap tured on the Georgiana and the Susan Loud were to be brought up before the mmnptint tribunal at Havana, when, if they were proved innocent, they would be released if not, not. The Patria says it derives ii from ' the only source worthy of credit." It also asserts that the Captain General has no power either to disch arge or retain the prisoners.' Romance of the Cuban Expedition. The steamer Caston, Captain IJebbard, arrived on Saturday from Palatki, having on board seventeen men, among whom was a Lieutenant attached to the Cuban expedition to its full extent. We learn they left Key West in a fishing smack, and arrived at Tampa Bay perfectly dest itute of every necessary. Here they wero met by Gen. Twiggs, who re ceived them very coldly at first; but, on becoming acquainted with their destitu tion, with his native generous hopitality, issued them rations, and gave them com fortable quarters. We are in formed that he also sent on fifty of their number to New Orleans. Those who arrived here walked from Tampa Bay to Palaiki, where they ar rived, after a journey of six days entirely pennyless. A subscription was raised by the citizens of Palatki, by whom they were supplied with means lo pay their passage, at a reduced rate, to this city. They are now here among us, and need the chanty of our citizens, having been obliged to part with every article of value, and their clothing to the last suit, in making their way thus far. They are young men, nearly all Amer ican citizens, and state they were de ceived by those who induced them to join the expedition. Th eir nomes are in "Kentucky and Ohio, to which they are making their way. They wish work to enable them to obtain the means to trav el. There are seven mechanics among them. Savannah Georgian June 19. ARRIVAL OF THE SARANAC. Authentic News from Cuba. Washington, June 12. The U. S. steamer Saranac, Captain TatnaU, from Havana, 6th instant, readied the naval anchorage at Norfolk yesterday morning. Capt. Tatnall arrived here this morning with important despatches from the Gov ernment. Capt. Tatnall represents all quiet when he left. For the following inlellgence I am in debted to a slip from the Norfolk Herald office. The Saranac arrived at Havana on Thursday evening 23d ult., and lay off at Moro Castle until the next morning, when Capt. Randolph of the U. S. corvette Al bany, went on board and reported that a Spanish man-of-war had captured two American vessels at the Island of Contoy, on the coast of Yucatan; that he had in an interview with the Captain General de inendedthat they should be given up, and on the refusal of the Captain General to do so, had declared his intention ; of re capturing them. The Saranac went into Havana about 10 o'clock on the morning of the 24 th, and Carjtain Tatnall had an interview with the f!.i Main General, in which he informed that functionary that if he met with Amer ican vessels, prizes to a Spanish man of war, he should require a satisfactory ac count of the reasons of their capture, and, if refused, he should re-capture such ves sels; but if he was satisfied that they formed a portion of the invading expedition he should not seek them. The Spanish authorities expressed much satisfaction, at the course oi our uovern ment. About three hours after Saranac anch ored in Havana a Spanish brig ot war came in with the prisoners, but not the prizes; which latter were supposed to have been ordered to some other port to-avoid a collision. On the following day, the 25th, the Sa ranac got under weigh for Key West, ta king two corvottes (Albany and German town,) with her. On', their , arrival kthey found the inhabitants of Key West had been in some alarm in consequence of so large a number of men having been landed there lrom me vreoie, ovei wnicn tnecivit authorities have no control. They had, however, conducted themselves, peaceably and orderly. The Saranac remained two days at Key West, and again proceeded to Havana, ta king as passengers. Judge Marvin and Judge Douglas, (the latter Collector at Key West.) These gentlemen with Captain TatnaU, of the Saranac, called on the Cap tain General, and stated to him their rea sons for believing that the men captured at Convoy had abandoned the expedition. In reply, they were informed that a dis tinction had been made between these men and those who landed at Cardenas; that the former were well treated and would have a fair trial and every opportunity to prove their innocence. No one was permitted to visit them a rule that applies equally to Snanish subiects. 1 he interview M-as M J altogether satisfactory. The Saranac .broke part of; the frame sustaining her machinery the day after she left Havna and came home using only one wheel. She remained also two days at Key West. Arrest of Lopfz. New York, June 12. Gen. Lopez arrived in New Orleans on Thursday, and was arrested by the U. S. authorities, and held to bail in the sum of 3,000 for trial before the U. S. Commis sioners. Seventeen of his men reached Savannah from Key West on Saturday last. They express anxiety to enlist for another expedition against Cuba.. The boy executed at Cardenas, was named Wm. Kelly. He was from California; and had embarked under the impression that he was going to California. The steamer Isabella which sailed from Havana on Friday arrived in Charleston yesterday. She reports that sixty-one prisoners, the officers and crews r of the Georgiana and the Sarah, were on trial before the Marine Court. The trial had not concluded at the time of sailing, but it was thought that th Captains of the ves se Is would be punished and the crews ac quitted. fJThe above news is no doubt correct, as we have received the same by mail, in the New York, Tribune on Monday. Joitrnal.' A Venerable Prison Bird. Eleven convicts were brought before the court, at Boston, on Monday, from the State pris on, as "second" or "third comers" and as such, liable to additional punishment, un der a peculiar law of that State. The oldest was Henry Wood, aged 75, who has passed thirty-eight out of the last forty years in the State prison, under repeated sentences. His earlier convictions were for burglary and store breaking, commen cing in 1810. His last sentence was for a felonious assault, with intent, fcc, upon his sister-in-law, his lather's daughter by a second wife. He told the court, on Monday, that he thought the State had about enough of his time, but he was now so old, that it did not matter much where he passed the remainder of his days. Six months additional was then awarded to him.. Confiscation of Estates in Havana. The Pope, (or his counsellors for him,) on his return to Rome, confiscated the es tates of the leaders of the revolution. Aus tria did the same 'thing for the Hunpjari- ans. 1 tie Cantam General of Cuba. having two such illustrious examples before him, has commenced the work with the wealthy planters of that island, who were supposed to favor a revolution in the "Queen of the Antilles." He has cited for trial before the military tribunals, Aguero Macias, Betancour, Villaverde, and Christoval Maden. These gentlemen may consider themselves fortunate if they escape with their lives their estates will, of course, go to reward the faithful follow ers of her sacred majesty. Memphis, June 1 1 . Icrrible Tragedy Two Men Killed and Two Others Injured. On Saturday the case of the Farmers and Merchants' Bank came up before court, on the part of Dr. J. Fowkers and others, that the assets of the bank should be placed under their control. The motion was resisted by General Coe, as attorney for a portion of the creditors. The General read a com munication, previously signed by King & Trigg, to the effect that such resistance on his part would be treated by them as a private and personal matter. The argu ment was deferred to some other day. Messrs. Coe and Connel left the court room, and were met by Trigg and .his friends, when a personal assault occurred. Pistols were fired, and in the melee, Coe shot and killed Trigg.- A general fight followed, when Coe was attacked by three different parties, and shot in the back. He fell mortally wounded. Others became engaged in the affray, and a man named Gaines, closed in a contest with Connel, both falling to the ground, evidently seri ously injured. The greatest excitement prevailed. . 12 be ii slni rgr market. Flour 5,75 a 6,25 per barret, Wheat 1 a I,12 per bushet. Oats -10 a 42 cis. very scarce. Corn MealG2 cts per bushel. .
