From Ihe Greenstuff Republican, May 3!. Blots "oil the Rallroadl-The Military Colled Del!! .: On Monday last oath was made before judge Knox, Presiding Judge of our Court, to the effect that the hands now cn strike, in Derry and r airfield townships had. committed outrages and destroyed private property, &c, belonging to con tractors and others. A wsnvmt was irn njediatelv issued to the Sheriff. Sheriff lingua promptly made arrange ments to meet the emergency, in which he.was aided by our citizens. That eve ning he called upon the You'ngstown Ar tillery aud Liginnier Blues, who obeyed, th surnrnons'with the most praise-worthy alacrity, and" marched with upwards of 70 men to the scene of the Riots on Tues day. - In the meantime, active prepara tion were made to bring, if necessary, force enough to quell anything like resist ance. .But happily the force under com mand of Col. Coulter was found sufficient to suppress, and it is hoped, abundantly .able to arrest the ringleaders of the rioters. -A large posse of men from this place and vicinity had been notified to hold themselves in readiness to start for the scene of the disturbances on TJiursday morning. Arms, amunition, &c, were prepared. An express arrived here on Wednesday evening, stating that the force already on the ground was sufficient, and as a matter of course, those summoned to the expedition were notified that their ser vices were not required, to the very evi dent fchagrin of many who appeared anx ious to go. The Sheriff on Monday evening sent an express to Pittsburg, and procured from the U. S. Arsenal 6,000 rounds of Buck-shot and Ball cartridge, which safe ly airived here on Wednesday. Several Volunteer companies from the north of the county were ordered to hold themselves in readiness to march on Thursday morning their orders were countermanded on Wednesday evening. Wc understand that a great deal of alacri ty was displayed by these companies, and if their services were needed, would have turned out in considerable forcp, Several volunteer companies, not called on by .the Sheriff, offered their services. The la3t news from the scene of distur bances state that the Volunteers had pos session of Martin's Shanties, and on Wed nesday afternoon would proceed to make arrests of those implicated in the riots. The promptness and determination evinced on this occasion will, we hope, have a salutary effect on those engaged in these lawless proceedings and learn them that they cannot, with impunity, violate the laws of the country.
