or bearing down sensation, as it isiiimiliorly call
ed ; - there tralso - a heat, ennion - and - throbbingin
the part, varying from a moderate degree of these
sensations to the most excrutiating 'suffering ;
these tiro` caused by the great flow of blood to
the pats. - -SometimOsthe inner coat of the bowel
protudes -at every evacuation,forming. what is
called Prolapsus, or far gof lia bowels ; this is
the effect of long contin ed irritation-ant-weak
ness of that organ. In so e instances the patient '
experiences nervous pain which are indescriba,
blo, and known only to t auffereri which dinn
mence immediatelY after an evacuation, and con.
tinue from thirty minutes to Wend, hours; these
sensations are very annoying and sometimes very
disisessing, ThiOdisenne, ivhen of long continu
ance, is mended by pain and weakness in the -
back, irritation of the kidneys ;and lilifdder; and
other organs in the 'vicinity, pain end numbness
in the legs and fest, a sense of straitneas about
the client, end unnatural fulness of the abdominal
viscera, accompanied with palpitation of the heart
and oppression. Individuals- sometimes experi
ence, previous to an antic' of the Piles; symp
toms denotin g great derangement in the circula
tion ; there is a sense of weig h t end pressure in •
the abdomen, with a peculiar feeling of uneasi
ness in the bowels; constipation or perinteum, at
tended with pain in the - hook arid' leina, nausea,
and., slight pains in the; stomach, pale 'coutite
nonce, confused senntions in the head, Avearinens,
and inimitable and discontented state of the mipd,
and a sense of fulness and oppression 'in the. re•
gion of the Stomach. The circulation' On the
surface is feeble, end the current of blood dtter•
mined inward and downwards.
