It is a limited stork coin pauy with a present capital of $200,000. The stockholders art- Amos Steelsmith, L. C. Wick, E. H. Anderson, W. D. Brandon and G. A. Billingsly. It is organized to make bnrial cases or cas kets. It will be located with Mr. Wick's planing mill at Centre Ave. and the P. & W. railroad, but there will be some great changes made abont the place. Two stories will be added to the present brick building and the Conno qnessing creek will be arched and the ad ditional stories extended across the creek where a shipping door will be located and a siding from the Bessemer railroad put in. Mr. Wick owns the ground on both sides of the creek and has a gas well on the west side which is at pres ent supplying the plaining mill and which will furnish abundant fuel for the new enterprise. The IMrectors expect to start with a force of thirtv to forty workmen and hope to steadily increase this number. They are not alone in this, but every citizen of Butler wishes and hopes for their success. Local undertakers and thr«se throughout the county and in nearby tows should place their orders for caskets with the manufacturing company nearest them, and that will be the Butler Bnrial Case (Jo. Moore presented Capt. McJunkin with a lifesize portrait of himself, the gift of citizens. These ex ercises over, the eighty veterans of the Spanish-American war present sat down to an excellent repast of things which please the palate and nourish the body. Twenty five of Bntler s brightest young ladies acted as waitresses. The repast over, an informal reception was held and Co. E dispersed, perhaps never to meet again in numbers so nearly com plete. * * • Co. E had been in existence as part of the I.lth N. G. P. for 20 years previous to the war with Spain With sixty some members it left Butler April 27. 18S»m and encamped with the rest of the-1 State troops at Mt. Gretna. There about twenty reernits were added and Co. E with the rest of the 15th was mus- j tered into the service of the United States, May 11. A month later Co. E occupied Fort Washington, Md. and re mained there until Sept. '■> when they came back to Camp Meade, Pa About the last of June enough recruits from Eutler, KittanDing and New Castle were added to raise the Co. to full strength, 103 men. On Nov. the loth left Camp Meade for Camp Has kill, Athens, Ga. where they remained until mustered out. Jan. 30. I*M). Death entered the ranks of Co. E but once and Albert Watters was the only soldier who returned upon his shield. He died in the Fort Washington hospital August !>, IHSW, of typhoid fever and his remains were brought to Butler for bur ial. He will be remembered as a true soldier and comrade NOTES. Clarence Graham, son of Jos. Gra ham, was seized with a malarial chill on the train Thursday morning and was taken to the hospital in a carriage. His marriage to Miss Laura Patterson of this place has been announced. The ceremony took place while Clarence was home on a short fnrlough about Christmas. Harry Cook started on a long trip to California to visit his father there in stead of coming back to Butler. Charles Kalb, son of Henry Kalb, was the last man of Co. E discharged, two months ago he came home on a thirty day sick furlough which was fnrther extended and when his time was up it was known that the 15th would s>on be mustered out and he received orders to await the company at Butler and re ceive his discharge here.
