i General Taylor no Locofooo. The Penusylvanian'of Monday, alluding to certain manifestations of regard fur Gen. Tay lor, says, Suppose the gallant General should j urn out lo bo a Democrat, after ail?" In re ply to the above the U. S. Gazette says : Well, wc think it will he after all, when Gen. Taylor turns out 10 be a Democrat of the Polk school ; he has had a little too much of that pseudo De mocracy already. He felt it in the correspon dence with tho Secretary of War; he frit it keenly in the movements of the Polk Demo crat in the Senate, who opposed the vote of thanks for tho victory of Monturkv; he has felt it in one or two other mode, to which we hhall refer hereafter. But the gallant General will not turn Locufoco there ismio danger of tliat. If wc thought ho would ever adopt the political principles of the party now in power, .Monterey, Resaca dc la Palma, Palo Alto, and Uuena Vista, would present no argument in fa vor of his election to the Presidency. There must he sound political principles, and states manlike adherence to them to qualify a man for the Presidency. Gen. Taylor is a thorough-going Wine? ; he was the friend, advocate and effective partizan of Harrison ; he is tho warm personal friend, the zealous partizan of Henry Clay ; the open professor of the principles of national policy connected with the life of that great man. .Such he has professed himself, such ho lts shown himself. These are the principles upon which he has placed his fame and his charac ter he will not give them up. " General Taylor ncver Surrenders." - CARRIED, In Milford, on the 13th instant, .by the Rev.
