Wequote the above from the manifesto of the
new Government Organ, the " Union" be
cause it speaks "by authority" ihe sentiments
of the Administration in relation to lhe present
tariff. Those who live to see the next session
of Congress, will unquestionably witness a des
perate onslaught upon the Tariff of 1842. What
the result will be it is difficult lo sav; but it is
certain that no pains, nor management, nor cor
ruption will be spared 10 effect its overthrow.

A decision has been given by the Supreme
Court of this Stale, that "if a man has reason
