JEFFERSON IAN REPUBLICAN. ' rr. From the Belviderc Apollo, June II. The Second Trial Of Joseph Carter, jr., on an indictment for the murder of John B. Parke, was begun be fnre the Warren Circuit on Tuesday last, Judge Whitehead on the bench. The first day was consumed in selecting a Jury, the fol lowing being the list : Dennis Rice, Foreman, Win. W. Wilson, John Kelley, Peter Cham "berlin, David Burge, Peter T. Dewitt, Jacob S. Molt, Wesley Flummerfeli, Stewart .M.Browne, Charles G. Hoaglaud, Frederic Sharp, Philip D. Weller. Mr. Morris, the Prosecutor, is assisted by John M. Sherrkro, Eq. of ihn village, and the Hon. William Halstf.d, of Trenton. For the defence, Wm. F. Clkmsov. of Bel videre, antl A. E. Biiow.v, Eq. of Eason. Dunns the week some twen'y witnesses hav,e hi-en examined, out of a list considerably lar ger than that called on the first trial. The time consumed in the present one will probably be as great if not greater than in the former. Much less interest seems, to be felt in the pro ceedings than was manifested in August of last rear, not that less anxiety prevails as to the re sult, but because much of the testimony has be come a twice-told tale. The number in atten dance we should think is lessened by ai Ieat one half. Towards the close of the trial, how ever, increased anxiety and a large attendance may be anttcipaled. The wHo spread reputation for legal acumen and elnqnence.of Messrs. HaUtead and Brown, now for the firl tune, so far as we know, ex erting their energies in a Warren Court, added to" the established remitlioiiK of the counsel PRICES CURRENT. Hamilton, Monroe co., April 29. 1844. NOTICE Or those who arc aSioait to build or repair. Tho ttmdersigned respectfully informs the public that he is duly authorised to sell the Right of tho Johnson Re-acting Water wheel, to the counties of Monroe and Pike, patented the 22d day of June, A. D. 1840. Tho Johnson re-acting wheel is the best now in use 10 propel a saw null; il excels any other wheel in the United States under a low water head; under a head from 5 to 7 feet is suffi cient 10 cut from 2 to 3000 feet in twelve hours of inch or any other boards with ease. The wheels require, under a 7 foot head, 140 inches of water and so in proportion to any other head. Under a 7 foot head, the Saw will make from 200 to 250 strokes per minute. The advan tage which those wheels have over any other wheels is, that it requires but four posts to make the floom or bulk head; the wheels are hung on the crank shaft. Two wheels are what is re quired for a Saw mill, and ihe posts planked in side the same as a pen slock. I have built one of those mills this season, on tho Roaring Brook, in Luzerne couniy, for Mr. S. P. Tem plin, under about a 7 fool head, which will cut from 3 to 4000 in twelve hours of inch boards; therefore, 1 can recommend them as the best wheels now in operation. There are several more mills in that part, all under low heads, which answers ihe same purpose as that of Mr. Templins. For further information, please call on the. subscriber. FERDINAND DUTOT.
