Godkv's Lady's Book having been for so long a series of vears recognized as the exclusive and indisputable guide to the fair sex in matters of taste, fashion, and literature the only wortc con ducted by DISTINGUISHED FEMALE AUTHORS, who have won for themselves a high place among the guiding spirits of the age the only work which in point of fact has been EXCLUSIVELY DEVOTED TO THE LADIES ; its favour with its fair patrons has not been less remarkable than its perfect adaptation to their feel ings and tastes and their requirements. In entering xipon a new year, the publisher, without diminish ing in the least that sterling and useful Literature, which has long resulted from laying under contrk bution the native good sense and elegant fancy of our American Female Writers, will, as each suc cessive number appears, present, in the several de partments of LITERATURE, FASIHON, AND PICTORIAL EMBELLISH MENT, a constant and ever-varying succession of new and striking featmes. ARTHUR, Author of 'Six Ifigkts with the Washingtoni ans,1 etc. THE extensive and still increasing sale, and the wide-spread popularity of Mr. Arthur's "Six Nights with the Washingtonlans,' and the ur gent entreaties of many distinguished leaders in the Temperance cause, have induced the Subscribers to make an arrangement with ihat admirable writer to furnish another series ofj Tales from real life. These Tales will be published in sixteen weekly numbers, at the low price of six and a quarter cents per number, neatly stitched up in Iisnidsome covers, suitable for preservation. To those who have read the former series of Mr. Arthur's Temperance Tales, it need not be said that the forthcoming series will be not only deeply interesting, but will be calculated to do immense service to the great cause which they are designed to promote. Like the "Six Nights -with the Washingtonians," the subjects xvill be .drawn from real life, and it will be the object of the Author to depict the horrors of drunken ness in all its varied and appalling forms, as exhibited in different classes and conditionsof aouieiy, as well as to show the remedial means which Temperance associations furnish. In accomplishing this object, Mr. Arthur will bring lo his aid the same acute observation, the same truthful delineation, the same clearness of nar rative, and the same lofty morality, which have marked his former productions; and it may be confidently predicted that, through the influence lie will thus exercise, many an inebriate will be rescued from the fangs of the destroyer. The price of these Tales is purposely made vrry low, that they may be brought within the reach of all persons; and it is confidently hoped dial all who desire to see the Temperance .cause flourish will aid in their circulation. Country produce of all kinds, laken in .pay ment for work. Stroudsburg, April 20, 1842. Proved in more than 400,000 cases to be infal lible; the only certain worm-destroying medi cine ever discovered. Many diseases arise from worms and occasion long and intense suff ering and even death, without their over being suspected; grown persons are very often afflict ed with them and are doctored for various com plaints, without any benefit; when one dose, of these Lozenges would speedily cure them. Mr. J. Murphy, 90 North st. Philadelphia, was applied to by a poor woman whose daugh ter, 7 years old, had been sick for nearly 3 years; her stomach was as large as a grown person's, her arms and legs so swollen that she could not walk or help herself, although she could eat as much as two laboring men. Two celebrated doctors had exhausted their skill without any benefit; the father had spent all he could raise and was discouraged, he abandon ed all idea of doing anything more for her, and looked to death alone, to take her out of her misery. 'Mr. Murnhv believinsr it a case of worms, gave her a box of Sherman's Lozenges, and in two days she returned with joy beaming in her eyes, and said the Lozenges had saved her child's life. The first dose brought away nearly a pint of worms in one living mass, she afterwards counted over 800 that were discharg ed, besides the mass which she could not count. The child was literally eaten up with them another living witness of the almost mir aculous efficacy of Sherman's Lozenges. JJj3 A fresh supply of the above valuable Lozenges, just received and for sale by T. SCHOCH, Republican Office, Stroudsburg, sole agent for Monroe county. Price-25 cents per box. We are acquaint ed with several families in this city who give them the preference to all other kinds, on account of their mildness, and at the same time, certainty of action. New-York Examiner. t More than ten, millions of boxes of these truly valuable Antibilious Pills have been sold in the United States, Canadas, West Indies, Mexico, and Texas, since the first of January, eighteen hun dred and thirty-five. Hundreds and thousands bless the day they were induced by the persuasion of a, friend, to try a Box of Doctor Peters' Pills. They are in use as a Family Medicine, and all who have used them give them the preference to all other kinds, on account of their being a safe, pleasant, and easy aperient being mild in their action at the same lime; though, in their operation, producing neither sickness, griping, nor debility. Doct. Jos. Priestley Peters, Dear Sir: I have used your valuable Pills these last four years, in cases of Dyspepsia, Liver Complaint, and Sick Head-ache, and have found them, in a majority of cases, the most valu able Pills I have ever used. JOHN CASE, M. D. For Sick or Nervous Head-ache, or Bilious Fe ver, I would recommend Peters' Pills in preference to all other kinds. R. H. ARMSTRONG, M. D. DkWHT & "BROTHER-- - Milford, February 2, 184a, " Wright's Indian Vegetable Pills Of the North American College, of Health. This extraordinary medicine is founded upon the principle that the human frame is subject to ONLY ONE DISEASE, viz: Corrupt Humors, or in other words Impurity of the Blood, and noth ing save vegetable cleansing, is wanted in order to drive diseaso of every description from the bo dy. If the channels of our mighty rivers should he come choked up, would not the accumulated wa ters find new outlets, or the country be inundated? Just so with the human body; if the natural drains become closed, the accumulated impurities will most assuredly find vent in some form of disease, or death will be a certain consequence. WRIGHTS INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS are eminently calculated for carrying out this GRAND PURIFYING PRINCIPLE, because they are a purgative medicine so justly balanced and withal so natural to the human constitution, that they cannot possibly injure the most delicate; at the same time, if used in such a maimer as to produce free evacuations by the bowels, and re peated a few times, it will be absolutely impossi ble for pain or distress of any kind to continue in the body. A single twenty-five cent box of the above named Indian Yegetable Pills will, in all cas"es, give relief, sometimes even beyond the power of words to describe, and if persevered in for a short time, there is not a malady n the whole course of human ills that can possibly with stand their astonishing and wonderful influence. WRIGII'rrS INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS are a certain cure for COSTIVENESS, Because they completely cleanse the stomach and bowels from those billious and-corrupt humours which paralyse and weaken the digestive organs, and are the cause of headache, nausea, and sick ness, palpitation of the heart, rheumatic pains in various parts of the body, and many other unplea sant symptoms. In all disordered motions of the Ulood, called Intermittent, Remittent, Nervous; Inflammatory, and Putrid FEVERS, Wright's Indian Vegetable Pills will be found a certain remedy; because they cleanse the stom ach and bowels from all bilious humours and pu rify the blood; consequently, as they remove eve ry kind of disease, they are absolutely certain to cure every kind of fever. So, also, when morbid humours are deposited upon the membrane and muscle, causing those pains, inflammations and swellings, called RHEUMATISM, GOUT, &c, Wright's Indian Yegetable Pills may be relied on as always certain to give relief, and if persevered with, will most assuredly, and witnout fail, make a perfect cure of the above painful maladies. From three to six of said Indian Yegetable Puis taken every night on going to bed, will, in a short time, etompletely rid the body from all morbid and corrupt humours; and rheumatism, gout, and pain of every description, will despair, as if by magic. For the same reason, when, from sudden changes of the atmosphere, or any other cause, the perspiration is checked, and those humours which should pass off by the skin, are thrown in wardly, causing headache, nausea, and sickness, pain in the bones, watery and inflamed eyes, sore throat, hoarseness, coughs, consumption, rheu matic pains in various parts of the body, and ma ny other symptoms of CATCHING COLD, Wright's Indian Yegetable Pills will invariably give immediate relief. Three or four pills taken at night on going to bed, and repeated a few times will remove all the above unpleasant symptoms, and restore the body to even sounder health than before. The same may be said of difficulty of breathincr, or ASTHMA. Wright's Indian Vegetable Pills will loosen and carry off by the stomach and bowels those rough and phlegmy humours which stop the air cells of the lungs, and are the cause of the above dreadful complaint. It should also be remembered that WRIGHTS INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS are certain to remove pain in the side, oppression, nausea and sickness, loss of appetite, costiveness, a yellow tinge of the skin and eyesand e.very other symp tom of LIVER COMPLAINT. Because they purge from the body those corrupt and stagnant humours, which when deposited on the' liver, are the cause of tho above dangerous complaint They are also to prevent APOPLEXY AND SUDDEN DEATH. Because they carry off those humors which ob structing tlm circulation, are the csuse of a rush. O ' ' or determination of blood to the head; giddiness, especially on turning suddenly round, blindness, drowsiness, loss of memory, inflamalion of tho brain, insanity, and all disorders of the mind. Those who labour within doors should remem ber that they frequently breathe jm atmosphere which is wholly unfit for the proper expansion of the lungs, and at the same time owing to want of exercise, the bowels are not sufficiently evacua ted, the blood becomes impure, and headache, in digestion, palpitation of .the heart, and many other Idisngrecablo symptoms' are sure to follow. WRIGItT'S INDIAN VEGETABLE , PILLS Being a Cleanser of the stomach and bowels, anil a DIRECT PURIFIER of the Iilood, are certni., not only to remove pain or distress of every kind from the body, but if used occasionally, so as to keep the body free' from those humours which are the CAUSE OF EVERY MALADY INCI DENT TO MAN, they will most assuredly pro mote such a just and equal circulation of tho blood, that those who lead a sedentary life, will be able to enjoy sound health, and DISEASE Of ANY KIND WILL BE ABSOLUTELY IM POSSIBLE. CAUTION TO AGENTS. Country agents, and others, are respectfully in formed that, owing to the great popularity, and increasing demand for the above named Pills, a host of unprincipled persons are busily engaged in manufacturing, and vending a spurious article in imitation of wrigiit's indtan vegetable pills. They are also further informed that 1 have a suit pending against one V. O Flack, for counter feiting the above named medicine; and are cau tioned against buying or receiving medicine from said V. O. Flack, as he cannot by any possibility have the genuine Wright's Indian Yegetable Pills for sale. All travelling agents, with genuine medicine, are provided with a certificate of agency, signed by William Wright, Vice President of the X. A. College of Health. Travellers, who cannot show a certificate'as above described, will be known as base mpos tors. Shun them, therefore, as you would a Highwayman, or a Midnight Robber.
