The great celebrity of this unrivalled Conipbsi Jiori especially in the Northern States leaves ihe proprietor but little need to say any thing in its favor; for it has been generally conceded to it, 'hat it is beyond all comparisonthe best remedy lor external complaints that has ever been discov ered. Indeed the speed and certainty of its oper ations have the appearance of miracles : as ulcers, wounds, corns, fever sores, chilblains, white swel Jings, biles, piles, spider and snake bites &c. immediately yield to its apparantly super human influence. Thus if properly applied it will remove nn inveterate, corn or break and heal a bile in five ;ays, will allay and perfectly cure an ulcer in two weeks ; and the most desperate cases of white swelling that can be imagined, have been destroyed !y it in less than two months. In the bites of l-oisonous reptiles its efficacy is truly surprising: :T.d even in the bite of a rabid dog, for if applied j m time, lis powers oi auracuon are so wonaenui -!t they will at once arrest the poison and thus prevent it from pervading the system. It is like wise greatly superior to any medicine Heretofore oiscovered for the chafed backs and limbs of horses for tetters, ring worms, chapped lips, and in 'iert for every external bodily evil that may fall the lot of man or beast. The proprietor has received at least a thousand c ertificates and other documents, in favor of his Specific Ointment'1' upwards a hundred of which r ere written by respectable members of the Med ial Faculty ; and in selecting from this pile the following sair.ples, he was governed more by their brevity, than their contents, as they all breath the tame spirit of eulogy and satisfaction'. CERTIFICATES. Albany, July 9, 1837. To. Dr Harrison, Sir- I use your Specific Oint ment in. my practice, and cordially recommend it i'.i a -most efficient remedy for Tumors, Ulcers, White Swellings, Scrofula, Rheumatic Pains, u'happed Face, Lips and Hands-; and for general ?id external complaints-. 1 write this at the re quest of your agent here, who furnishes me with '.ic article, and am pleased to have it in my power to award honor to merit. RUFUS R. BEACH, M 3 Extract of a Letter from Dr. J. W. Sanders, ? of Louisville. Ky. October 8, 1837. 5 " I am prepared to say, that for Rheumatic Pains and the Sore Breasts of females, Harrison's Spe i ific Ointment has no superior, if indeed it has my equal, in the whole catalogue of external me dicines, as known and prescribed in this country." Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 4, 1838. To Dik Harrison, Dear Sir, 1 write to con gratulate you on the extraordinary virtue of yonr Specific Ointment,' in the curinor of burns. A Iktle bov of n-'ine. 4'vears old, fell airainst the i re-place threr. weeks since, when his clothes be I caue ignited, and he was instantly enveloped i.i flames. After some difficult v the hre was ex tinguished, but not before the poor little fellow's l;iwei extremities were almost covered with a cotf mual blister. Having- much faith in your oint irent, I immediately purchased three boxes, which j applied unsparingly, according to your direc tions in such cases ; and it is with-great pleasure and gratitude, that I am able to inform you that it altered the pain in a few hours; and in ten days Lad effected a complete cure. 1 need scarcely dd that ir ought to be in the possession of eve ry family as there is no telling when such acci dents may occur. Yours respectfully, H. M. S1IEP1IARD: A supply of tliis valuable Ointment just received ni.d or fsaie, by SAMUEL STOKES. Stroudsburg, Npw 6, 1S10. BEANK MORTGAGES ' Uqf sale at this office. 1 iiffiaB WAYNE COUNTY MUTUAL IIVSURAItfCE COMPANY, ALL Persons insuring in this company are members equally interested in it's welfare and in the election of its officers. In order to become a member of this company and thereby be insured, the applicant gives a pre mium note, the amount of which is in proportion to the amount to be insured, and its degree of hazard, thus: If $1000 is to be insured, at 5 per cent., he gives his note for $50. If at 10 per cent, he gives his note for $100, and in that proportion for a greater or less sum, according to the rate of hazard, on which note he advances G per cent, and an additional sum of $1 50 for survey and policy. He then becomes a member on the approval of his application and is insured for five years. 1 he aggregate of the premium notes constitutes tne cash fund, charcable first, with the expenses, and second, with the losses of the Company; and should it prove insufficient to pay both losses and expenses the money to meet the losses, (should any occur) is borrowed agreeably to the act of in corporation, and paid. An assessment is then made to repay such loan upon the premium notes, in proportion to their respective amounts, and in no case to be made but once a year, notwithstanding several losses may happen. At the expiration of five years the note, if any assessments have been made and paid, is given up, and the insured may renew his application. Policies may at any time be assigned or sur rendered and cancelled, and the premium notes given up, according to the by-laws of the Com pany. No more than three fourths of the cash value of any property will bo insured, and all great hazards: such as Cotton Factories, Powder Mills, Distilleries, Machine bhops, Manulactones for Printer's Ink, and all establishments of the jme class Qr hazards, are not insured upon any conditions whatever, and that no one risk is taken over $5000, it is considered much more safe aim less expensive than in Stock companies, where they insure large amounts and hazardous proper ty.
